High School Football TONIGHT in and around Guilford County:
Grimsley(6-0) at Ragsdale(2-4) 7pm…Grimsley big win on the road last week, and Ragsdale played Page very tight at home…Grimsley with Page next week, with both teams approaching that game Unbeaten, but if you are the Whirlies and the Pirates, you can’t be caught looking ahead…Cause if you do, you will feel like the living dead, in Red October…Grimsley’s Defense has been playing near “Lights Out Football”…..
Southwest Guilford(1-5) at Page(6-0) 7pm…Pirates in the same boat Grimsley is in…Careful on the home front, with a much tougher Cowboys team than people realize, coming into Marion Kirby Stadium…The Pritchett kid for the SWG Cowboys was really looking good over at Western Guilford last week…Page will not want to be caught thinking about Jamieson Stadium, because they will have still have their hands full at “The Kirb”, this week….Page looking to LBs Jesse Poole and Wade Harty to lead their Defensive Attack…We will have this game for you, on GreensboroSports Radio, as one of our EmergeOrtho Games of the Week, with Demetri Morrison on the call…Be ready for non-stop action, on GreensboroSports Radio…The EmergeOrtho Game of the Week, numero uno, and here we go…
Western Guilford(3-4) at Dudley(4-3) 7pm…Hornets coming off of a big win over Southwest Guilford, but Dudley is a a different ‘Cat, as the Panthers prepare for Homecoming at “The Tarp”/Tarpley Stadium…Dudley will run hard, and they will tackle hard too…Michael Boone, plus Motley and Galloway know the way home, at Home…Western must get Oumar Doumbia running North and South, and East and West, and any place else where he can find a hole in the Dudley ‘D’…Hard team to run inside on them Panthers…But this one will probably be decided early on…
Northwest Guilford(0-6) at West Forsyth(5-1) 7pm…You have to think WF Titans coach Kevin Wallace might take it a little easy on his old school, the NWG Vikings…Not a chance…At least not in the beginning of the game…Maybe late in the contest, with a large lead, but Northwest Guilford will battle, that’s all they know how to do right now…Battle and hope for the best, hope to stay free of injury….
High Point Andrews(5-1) at Lexington(2-4) 7pm…Big win for HP Andrews in the JV game on Thursday, 36-0, and the varsity game might go that route too…Injured QB Caleb Moore is near being cleared to be able to play again, for the T. Wingate Andrews Red Raiders, and if he is ready to go soon, that will surely bolster the Raiders’ playoff chances…
Northern Guilford(2-4) at Northeast Guilford(5-1) 7:30pm…More offense here than you can shake a stick at, and that is why I have this sneaky feeling, that the Defenses might just take over…Defense wins ball games, and Offense sells tickets, but there will be no lack of tickets sold for this game…First Game in their new stadium for the Northeast Guilford Rams, and also Homecoming for Northeast Guilford…Some of those key players on display include QB Cayden Zealous and RB Zayne Gibson for NEG, while QB Daniel Evans and RB Christian Leach spearhead the NG Nighthawks attack…Gibson and Evans are both freshmen, but those two, don’t play like freshmen..And the same can be said for RJ Hawkins, the freshman wide receiver for the HP Andrews Red Raiders…We will have this NG vs. NEG game for you on GreensboroSports Radio, with Coach Damon Coiro alongside for the call of the game…Should be a whale of a game, and a whale of a night, at the NEW Bill Bookout Stadium, on Hicone Road, at Northeast Guilford High School, and on GreensboroSports Radio…
Eastern Guilford(2-3) at Southern Guilford(0-6) 7:30pm…The kid to keep a close watch on for Eastern Guilford is their RB McGriff…Not Fred McGriff, the old “Crime Dog” for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Atlanta Braves, but McGriff the gritty and hard running, running back for the Eastern Guilford Wildcats…He is capable of running for 200 yards in this game, but he might not need to…Samuel Haith IV, another very much up-and-coming weapon on defense, at defensive back, and might be on offense, as a receiver…But the ‘Cats have faith, in Haith, and he has not let them down much yet…Their receiver Chance Patton is also very experienced and he leads the receiving corp, overall for Eastern Guilford…
Southeast Guilford(1-5) at Asheboro(5-1) 7:30pm…Southeast Guilford, still very banged up, and I don’t like how this game stacks up for the Falcons…They go to the Lee Stone Stadium, where they have the Add Penfield Press Box, and Asheboro got whopped last week, by the Northern Guilford Nighthawks, and the Blue Comets are still smarting from that loss…The Britton Brothers, are not the Bostic or the Holt, or the Albright Brothers, but the Brittons will be sittin’ in the “No Quitting” section, as the game gets heated…One is the QB, and the other Britton is the RB, and might say Britton is the spittin’ image of what you don’t want to see/be gettin’, when you are looking for a win, against a team that just got the snot knocked out of them last week…I am just a saying…
High Point Christian(5-1) at Asheville School(4-2) 7pm…Gonna be a rough road trip for the HPCA Cougars, but here’s hoping, that they can pull this one out, behind QB Amsterdam Knox, and RB Hez Krider…Both will need to be at full force, for the Cougars to bring this “W”, back to High Point…HPCA with their biggest test of the season, and that was the word from News and Record preps writer, Bryant Roche, on this week’s edition of our Football in Focus Show…
Not a lot of talk of it, but I do think the Smith Golden Eagles are our only Guilford County team, with a BYE/OPEN Week, this week…Haven’t heard much from CPLA, as of late…
And with all of that being said, here are the rest of our area games, for this week….
