Looking ahead at the Conferences as action resumes on Tuesday and Wednesday

Here’s how we think they may stack up…..

Metro boys would be Page…..Have beaten Smith by two and topped Grimsley already…..Only losses were out of conference to WS Reagan and to GDS….Smith, Dudley, SEG, WG, Grimsley and Southern Alamance boys after that….

Metro girls….Gonna be tight at the top with SEG, PAGE, Dudley, WG, Smith…..And that might be your top order of finish….Smith girls did not do all that well in the Pizza Hut Tournament and that’s what was dropping them down in the recent polls….They need to get Brandi Robinson and Quon Greer hot again and make sure they have Jo Jo Phillips available every game…..They need her in the backcout…Dudley will miss Goins and WG will need more help for Clency and SEG will take their shots with primarily Hailey and Shutt….If the Page girls keep improving, look out for them….They were very solid top five, all contributing at the Pizza Hut Tournament….Kea, Johnson, Coleman, Barnes, Smith, Pegram and Sherman I think it was….They can go if all five keep on adding on…..But Dudley is quick…..Boys:Page(Eaves), Smith(Gathings), Dudley(Hunt), Western(Moseley), Southeast(Wright) top boys players right now……We will do more and build from here in the second half of the season…..

Piedmont Triad 4-A is almost a toss-up cause entire conference it down this year with the exception of SWG boys and girls….NWG down a bit, Ragsdale down, HP Central down, East Forsyth down, don’t know about Parkland, but when you look at it close, SWG boys and girls should take this conference…..It will the Cowboys and Cowgirls conference to lose……They sould take both sides and the boys should not be close and again, we don’t all about WS Parkland and not a whole lot about Glenn yet either…

NEG should take the Mid-Piedmont 3-A boys and for the girls I would say Ledford…..Ledford looks strong again this year for the girls….Big battle with Ledford and SEG for the NewBridge Bank Christmas Classic at Ledford…

Mid-State looks like Eastern Alamance boys and Northern Guilford girls……..

High Point Andrews should take the PAC 6 both boys and girls…..

  1. hope you meant northern boys for mid state…dont sleep on them, they beat northeast and NW twice already

  2. I saw Northern in the wins over NEG and NWG and both were on the road and the Nighthawks looked real good…..Chandler, Markley, Logan, McBeth and Downing played real well on those games…..In the game at Eastern Alamance the lost and they got hit up for 35 points by EA’s top player…..I would give Eastern Alamance the early edge after that game, but NG may take down EA at home on Spencer-Dixon Road……

from the Nighthawks game at Eastern Alamance::
NG @ Eastern Alamance (Mebane, NC) 51-64 (NG Loss)

One of the wild things about that Mid-State 3-A Conference this year, is that Tommy Cole of Burlington Williams, is the head coach for both the boys and girls Bulldog Basketball teams……
