River Mill took sole posession of 1st place in the Carolina 12 2-A/1A Conference race, with a 55-49 victory over Northwood.
It was a game of runs, as Northwood thrilled the home crowd, by taking an early 6-0 lead. River Mill rallied back to a 16-10 advantage by the end of the first quarter. The alternating runs continued as the host Chargers scored the first five points of the second stanza, only to see the Lady Jaguars score 11 consecutive points before intermission.
Northwood scored 23 points in the third quarter, to gain a 38-37 lead. River Mill regained control for keeps in the fourth however, to earn the exciting victory.
Lenaira Ruffin reached three milestones while leading the Lady Jags to victory. The junior guard scored 25 points to surpass 1000 career points (1023). She also had seven rebounds in the contest, to reach the 1002 career mark. Her 1002 rebound total set the new school record, that was previously held by 2009 NCPreps 1-A All-State player, Jada Alvarado.
Shelby Wolfe scored a game high 28 points for Northwood.
