More HS Hoop Talk as we close out our Saturday Morning Rewind session:Big Kevin Thompson, Metro Boys POY and NGFS

Closing out the Saturday Morning Session here with, “How about that ‘Big Kevin Thompson”, the boys assistant coach from Wesleyan….That man is 6’10 and he is a big and long 6’10….He played at Glenn High School over in Kernersville with his teammate 6’6 Bryant Feggins and then they both went on to play at N.C. State, in Raleigh….That man is big, I’m talking real big and the only bad part for Feggins was he was a nice kid, but he usually ended up in big, I mean real big trouble, like getting shot over at N.C. A&T…I remember interviewing Feggins down at Moses Cone Hospital and his wearing his hospital gown….That was kind of crazy and again, Thompson is big, I mean, real big…..

Metro 4-A Boys Player of the Year Watch…..
from last night it was:
Sam Hunt(JR) 29 points….
Frank Eaves(SR) 25 points…
Tracy Gathings(SR) 16 points…..
*****Hunt from Dudley, Eaves from Page and Gathings from Smith.*****Dudley right at (13-10 or 12-10), Page(18-3) and Smith(12-10)……All three teams won last night….

And the New Garden Friends School Bears will battle Pace today and if you get a score, send it our way…….

  1. I remember Thompson and Feggins from camp at Wake Forrest. Thompson dunked on me for the first time in my life. We were in the 10th grade rising jrs. Both guys were a blast to hang out with that summer. They had a teammate that went on to play at Southern Cal. Feggins and Donnie Seale were co-players of the year in NC. All three signed with State. Thompson went on to play some in the NBA

  2. New Garden rolled to a 77-54 win over Pace Academy of Chapel Hill. Kanayo Obi-Rapu, Jr led the way with a triple double….15 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Keemon Ingram scored 17 to lead the scoring for the Bears and Nolen Morgenstern followed with 14.
