Woody Cornwell just left out of High Point Central back in January, to go play quarterback at Tuscola High School up in the North Carolina mountains and now comes word today that the Tuscola Mountaineers’ coach Donnie Kiefer is leaving Tuscola, to return home to Central Cabarrus and coach there….Central Cabarrus is Kiefer’s old high school from days gone by and he is returning home…..Don’t know where this leaves Woody, but probably in the same spot as before, starting quarterback for Tuscola in the fall of 2012…..
[While at Southwest Guilford, Donnie Kiefer coached Eddie Pope and Pope was his kicker and then Pope went on to play soccer at North Carolina and has since been named to the United State Soccer Hall of Fame…Maybe Pope should have stuck with football and he could have made it to the NFL Hall of Fame….You never know…..]
from the Tuscola High School football web site:BREAKING NEWS: After five seasons as the head coach at Tuscola High School, Donnie Kiefer has accepted the job at his alma mater, Central Cabarrus High School. The announcement was made in a team meeting at 9:50 this morning in the Tuscola field house. He will remain at THS through the end of the month while a search is conducted to find his replacement.
On a related note, Willy Korn is trying to make it in the NFL…The former superstar HS quarterback at Duncan, South Carolina and a one-time first rate prospect for the Clemson Tigers, finished up his college career this past fall with North Greenville University and he will be in the NFL timing combine to be held this week at Clemson…..
