    Greensboro Day School Hires Alumna to Lead Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team Greensboro Day School (GDS) has hired Tamera Thorpe as its next Head Coach of the Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team. Thorpe served as an assistant coach on the 2020-21 team. Thorpe takes over a team that finished with a record of 16-6, was co-champion of the Piedmont Triad Athletic Conference (PTAC), and made it to the Final Four of the NCISAA 4A State playoffs.     LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate sophomore guard Tamera Thorpe(Greensboro Day School) has been named the ASUN Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced this afternoon. Thorpe earns the weekly honor for the first time in her career and was also named the College Sports Madness ASUN Player of the Week. In Upstate’s 76-63 home victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday, Thorpe came off of the bench and scored a career-high 27 points and was a career-best 10-for-15 from the field in 27 minutes played.
