If I were a betting man….

Well last week less really didn’t mean more as the 2-3 marks makes the putrid predictions 21-35-1. This week though I have much more time set aside so this week these picks are liable to be bloated more than most of you at the buffet line!

In college ball

Syracuse has struggled, especially at home take Rutgers -17.

Miami -3 against Ga. Tech, the jackets have struggled and the Canes are going to be bent after last week.

I will take the Virginia Polytechnical Institute -14 against Duke.

Louisville has been a major disappointment, but I see the Cards coming up with an inspired effort against the years Cinderella in the big east, Cincinnati, Louisville +10 1/2

In the battle of Houston I like Rice +21 ½ against home standing Houston

Ron Zook and his Illini have been hot, especially after upsetting Wisconsin. Look for them to continue there ascendancy in the Big 10. Illinois +4 against Iowa

Boston College is vastly overrated, look for Notre Dame to come up with an inspired effort since they finally got off the schnide against UCLA last week. Irish +13 ½

Stanford is due for the biggest letdown of all time after pulling off one of the great upsets of all time last week against USC. TCU -5 ½

Cal is looking like perhaps the best team in America, or at least the west coast. Look for the Golden Bears to easily cover -14 against Oregon State

And lastly I like UVA -3 against UCONN

In the pros

The Texans have been perhaps the most pleasant surprise in the league thus far. Houston +6 ½ against J’ville

Almost as much as the Bucs, Tampa -3 against Tennessee, also I like the under 38 as well.

In my upset special I will take the Raiders +10 against the Chargers.

The Cowboys had to expend a lot of energy to get out of Buffalo with their perfect record intact. Look for that to cost them coming off a short week against the NFL’s best offense. Pats -6

And on MNF I really like the Giants -3 ½ against what is truly a feeble Falcon club.

  1. OK Paul, we won’t hold Friday night’s pick against you but you started the weekend off on the wrong foot. 5-4-1 on Saturday, if my math is right, was a nice little rebound. Now, 5 NFL games that will make or break your weekend. Good Luck. (especially with the Raiders +10).

  2. 2-2-1 on Sunday makes you 7-6-2 so far for the week. I like your Monday Night pick a lot so there are some signs of life from PTL.
