We had more games last night than we anticipated and we were able to catch the Metro 4-A action with Northwest Guilford(Andy Fox 9pts.) defeating Smith 68-59 and by all indications that would end Smith’s season and no sectionals for the Golden Eagles. The Page Pirate boys(Julius Brooks 17) topped High Point Central 54-44 in a matchup of #3 vs. #6. HPC was able to hang with Page most of the way in a game that was played at very fast pace but in the end Page grabbed the victory and moved on to face East Forsyth on Wednesday in the semis. The season would be over for HPC. NWG will meet #1 seed Grimsley on Wednesday. I also learned from a fan that the Grimsley JV boys went (20-1) this season.
Tonight in girl’s action at Grimsley in the Metro 4-A it’s Smith vs. NWG at 6pm and East Forsyth meets High Point Central at 7:30. In other games last night it was the Dudley boys over Bartlett Yancey 88-45(26 points for Brandon Pennix), Northern Guilford stopped Western Alamance 67-54(16 points for Jonathan Frye, 15 each for Jacob Lawson and Michael Neal), Northeast Guilford knocked off Rockingham County 80-45(Markee Brown 15, Seth Hawkins 14, Tee Cleveland 12), Ragsdale rolled by Southeast Guilford 85-70(Wally Jones had 19 for the Tigers). In other girl’s action SEG blasted Asheboro 71-44 and HPA worked over Reagan 48-29.
Wednesday in the Triad 3-A at NEG, the #1 Dudley boys face #4 Western Guilford and #2 Northern takes on host #3 NEG.
Nice fact about the Grimsley JV”S.
