High School football practices have begun…

Grimsley got it going last night or this morning at midnight with the August 1st start-up date, Midnight Madness, on the main game field at the Whirlies campus. The cheerleaders, several former players, parents, and other fans showed up to welcome the team back as practice officially got under way for the first time this season.

I was there for the practice and we should have video up here on the site later today of the Grimsley practice. I drove over to Dudley after I shot the Whirlies warming up, but Dudley did not have a midnight practice, the rain last night may have changed their plans.

This morning I made it down to Southeast Guilford for the Falcons’ first practice and we will have Coach Hessenthaler and the Falcon football faithful up on the site with video later this afternoon. After I left the SEG campus I stopped back by Dudley again this morning but still no Panthers in the House. I guess they will get going this afternoon.

From Dudley, I made the Highway 29 North ride over to Page, and took in the Pirates’ workout and we will have that video running here at GREENSBOROSports.com later in the day. The Pirates were working hard on the Page offense and QB Will Newman has some new wrinkles he plans on using back there as the team leader this season. Newman said he hopes to send us some blog material as time allows. Coach Mack at Page says he can out yell(and do a few other things too) Coach Anderson at Grimsley and the fun has begun.

Ragsdale starts today at 5:30 and if you know of other teams and their practice plans/times let us know at durhamandy@live.com.

Again video due up later today and we will be looking for more teams to shoot over the next week.
