Triad Power POWER UP at WFC World Series

The Triad Power 12u is one of four undefeated teams in bracket play at Myrtle Beach WFC Softball World Series. The Power pulled off a huge win over the SC Travelers in their second bracket game on Thursday. The Power put up five runs early in the game and held the lead for four innings.

The Travelers got a big hit with bases loaded and tacked on a couple more to tie it up. The one hour and twenty minute time limit expires and we go into international tie breaker. The visiting Power gets the first opportunity to score. Our last out – Brianna Webb starts on second base. Cayla Cecil hits the first pitch for double and scores Webb. Haleigh Epperson lays down the bunt and beats it out. Molly Pustay rips the ball to left field for a double and scores Cecil and Epperson. Our next batter strikes out and the next fly’s out to deep left but moves Pustay to third. Morgan Coleman hits a blooper over the shortstop and scores Pustay. Sam Stilling comes to the plate and grounds out to second for the third out.

The Power now up by four just needs three outs to get the win. The Travelers manage to get a run on a deep fly ball that drops in. The first out comes on a run down play between first and second. The second out is a fly ball to the right fielder – Pustay. The winning out was taken by Haley Rumley on pop up at third. Ashton Dobbins pitched one her best games of the season. She pitched the entire game and gets the win 9-6.

The Power now plays the Sandhill Storm who is the number one seed at 6:30 pm.

The winner will advance to play either the Comets or the Hurricanes to go to the championship on Saturday. The loser goes to the loser bracket and will have to play through to get to the championship.
