Page quarterback Will Newman with the inside on the Pirates’ Progress

Our first scrimmage was against Glenn who appears to have a pretty strong team this year. We started off great with a touchdown on every drive we had. The offensive line was playing great. Hardly missing assignments at all which led to our success. Our defense played very well too, they held Glenn to very short yardage for the entire scrimmage.

Later that week we went to Eastern Alamance to play Burlington Williams and Eastern Alamance. We started off with Burlington Williams who has a strong quarterback in Ross Powell. However with our first play from the line of scrimmage we ran about seventy yards. And the offense didn’t seem to slow down after that. Then two hours later we played Eastern Alamance in a game situation scrimmage. We struggled a little bit on the first two drives against Eastern Alamance. We were hurt by some penalties that slowed the drive. But we scored on our third and fourth possessions with a touchdown pass to Colin Daly and a 43 yard field goal from our All-State kicker Matt Millisor.

The Page Pirates head to Deaton Thompson Stadium tonight to play RJ Reynolds. We are very prepared thanks to our coaching staff and everyone on the team can hardly wait for the lights to come on this Friday night to kick off the 2008 football season.

****Our thanks go out to Will Newman for sharing this part of his senior season with us and we hope to have more coming your way from Will as the season moves on. If we have other players out there that would like to send us info/updates on your team and their season, please send them our way. Thanks again to Will.*****
