Gerrod Herbin ran 47 for one score and caught a screen pass from QB Jason Davis that turned into another score, this one for 63 yards to pace Eastern over Southeast.
After dodging a early bullet when a long Southeast TD was called back because of holding. Eastern would open the scoring with Cedrick Johnson scoring from 7 yards out midway thru the opening period. Moments later the lead was cushioned when Jeremy Headen stepped in front of a Southeast pass and sprinted 17 yards to make the score 14-0 with 6:07 still to play in the opening period.
Tivon Clark got the first of his two scores as his 36 yard burst late in the first quarter cut the Eastern lead in half. The score would say that way until early in the third period as on Easterns first possesion of the 2nd half Jason Davis went 32 yards to return the lead to two scores. Moments later the Wildcats struck again as a simple screen pass to Herbin turned into the coup de grace as Eastern took a 28-7 lead into the final period.
Tivon Clark again cut the lead in half for Southeast with a 5 yard run. However the Falcons failed to recover the ensuing onsides kick and moments later Eastern put the game away with Herbin’s 47 yard sprint. With the win Eastern moves to 2-0 with powerful Northeast paying a visit to Gibsonville next Friday night.
