Football Thursday and football Friday

We had five games last night and there will be more on the docket tonight and the big question is, when is that rain going to hit?

Last night, Dudley wore out Grimsley 40-0, and the Grimsley offense advanced as far as the Dudley 40 and that was it. With that move to 40, Grimsley went backwards after that and ended up at their own 40 by the time the possession was over and Mychal Dotts was forced to punt for the 10th time in the contest. If our numbers are correct, Dudley did not have to punt once the entire game and the only kickoff by Grimsley came at the start of the second half.

Dudley had three TD’s from Fred Overby, one each from Ricky Lewis Jr., JR Peterson and Mycah Gaylord and Lewis and Overby each had two-point conversion runs.

Page behind two TD passes from QB Will Newman flew past Southern Lee 32-6. The Pirates were balanced offensively, passing for 137 yards and running for 131. Jeremy Collie caught both of the Newman TD passes and the Pirate defense was outstanding.

In other games Northern Guilford crushed Derita Academy 45-0, High Point Central got past Eastern Randolph 12-6 in OT and Western Guilford slipped by Smith, 14-13. We hope to have more info from our readers on these games throughout the day.

That puts our high school writer at (5-0) after last night’s games and even though the scores might be off a bit, you have to look at the bottom line and the W-L record now stands at (22-4) for the season. I didn’t even have a chance to put my WG/Smith score up on the board, but I had WG winning and by 17pts. I will continue to take whoever Smith is playing each week until the Eagles win one and I will take Eastern Guilford and Northern Guilford to win until someone can stop them.

Tonight we have Northeast Guilford at Eastern Guilford and we will take EG at home to win 31-21.

Northwest Guilford travels to face Ragsdale in Jamestown and I have the Ragsdale Tigers winning this game 28-14.

Southeast Guilford is on the road to visit Southwest Guilford and I will stick with the Falcons and see them stopping the SWG Cowboys 17-14 and the Falcon defense better load up on water all day on this Friday because the Hurricane isn’t due in until Saturday.

Southern Guilford at home versus Trinity and we really like the job that Darren Garcia and Scotty Wayne are doing in this Storm offense and have SG over the TB(Trinity Bulldogs) 21-13.

High Point Andrews has the week off and we would like to have that too, but we plan to be at the NEG/EG game after the Football in Focus Show at Shane’s Rib Shack on Westover Terrace.

Good Luck to all the teams and enjoy your Friday Football.

  1. Expect NW to run the ball tonight. they have a talented O-line, a very good fullback and a big time talent in Kennedy at tailback. Weather could play a factor in this game. Ragsdale uses the run and the pass equally where as NW seems to prefer the run. If it rains the Ragsdale air attack could be slowed. NW linebackers move around a lot and show blitz a lot so you don’t know if they are coming or not. Ragsdale O-line has a big job tonight.
