Comments and memories of Cameron “Scotty” Wayne

Southern Guilford football player Scotty Wayne was killed in a Saturday morning car crash, 17-year-old Cameron Scott Wayne — was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

Here are some of the comments and memories we have been receiving here at GREENSBOROSports.com and we wanted to share these with you at this post. They are very nice and we appreciate them, and we know you will too.

I spent most of my time in the military deployed or living on foreign soil. One thing I will never get use to is the loss of a young life. This year we have lost two area football players, Matt and now Scotty. Both young men loved the game of football. Both young men had bright futures ahead of them. Both young men were loved by many. Both young men will be missed by a community of people.

I hope and pray that each young man or woman reading this post takes inventory of his or her life. Are you taking advantage of your opportunities? These two young men were. Unfortunately, they won’t get the chance to finish what they started. Scotty Wayne was headed to East Carolina on a Football scholarship. He was doing the things necessary to live his dream. Matt Gfeller was fulfilling his dream of playing high school football.

Life is short. You’re only young once. Feel free to add your own cliche’. I guess what I’m trying to say is that many of you have a whole world out there waiting on you. Don’t be afraid to dream. You are young and there is a world of possibilities for you. Take advantage of them. Chase your dreams daily! Enjoy high school. Enjoy being young, but please don’t take life and it’s opportunities for granted. There are those who won’t get the opportunity to play another Friday night. There are those who won’t get the opportunity to attend college. There are those who won’t have the opportunity to become mothers, fathers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc.

We need you all of you to dream big and achieve. Both of these young men did. I can think of no better way to celebrate their legacies!

It was crazy how we met, but we became real close afterwards…we made a promise not to go to a party without each other, but of course that didn’t happen. The late night phone conversations about crazy things….how you got mad at me because of Dez….there is a lot of things that i will miss about you…I was taking my SAT as soon as i got out i got a phone call with someone crying i was wondering to myself what had happened….then they told me you got in a car wreck, i asked if you were alright and they said you died…I just started crying in front of everyone….thinking why Scotty…I was hoping to see you soon. at my game, like you said but I understand God took a good person…I will miss you soooo much…wish we can go back in time for i can see you one more time….Love You and see you soon

To the family of Sotty Wayne: I just want you to know that Scotty was like a son to me, every time he would come to the thrusday night games he would sit with Darren and I and i would always talk to them about girls and to keep their head on straight and to always make their mommies proud. The response I always got from the both of them was “YES MAM”. I can honestly say that I really love those guys and I would always try to make them laugh and they did the same in return. Scotty even promised me that he wouldnt rough up my son CJ to hard when they had to practice together, and I would laugh. I have fond memories of Scotty. His sister is in the classroom with my daughter and has been on outtings with us too. So i will continue to pray for his entire family not just on this week but everyday.love you guys .

Scotty was always that person to lean on, always the one to brightin up the room when the light seemed so dim. Since 3rd grade we been friends and even though I moved we still remained close. I keep crying but then I remember the type of person he was. He would want me to celebrate his great accomplishments in life and not mourn and cry over his death. Scotty you will never be forgotten you had a great impact on me and plenty of other ppl. I love you man.

We Luv U n U Will be missed by many n will be remembered
*With Love Today *

We thought of you with love today,
But this is nothing new,
We thought of you yesterday and the days before that too.
We think of you in silence and
often speak you name.
All we have now are our memories,
and your picture in a frame.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone.
A part of us went with you
The day God took you home.

I CAN’T BELIEVE HE IS GONE.. IT SEEM JUST LIKE YESTERDAY WHEN WE WAS TALKING ON THE PHONE OR TEXTING.. IT SEEMS LIKE I DREAM AND I CAN’T WAKE UP FROM IT. HE WAS A VERY SPECIAL FRIEND TO ME AND I LOVED HIM TO DEATH. HE ALWAYS KNEW HOW TO MAKE ME SMILE WHEN I WAS DOWN.. I FEEL LIKE JUST GIVING UP BECAUSE HE’S NOT HERE TO KEEP ME GOING, BUT I THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND I KNEW HE WOULDN’T OF WANTED ME TO.

My family would like to express our appreciation for your kind remarks and words of encouragement during this time. Scotty was a remarkable young man. A good young man who dreamed the impossible. As hard as it may be for you to go forward without Scotty on the field, in the classroom, in the neighbor, track field or My Space….where ever each of you may have come in contact with our son, brother, nephew, cousin or grand son do it because Scotty would have wanted you to. Never forget Scotty…each of you touched his life in so many ways and he touched your lives too. May God Bless each of you! “God Is The Light.”

*****I was informed last night that Scotty Wayne was a member of the NCHSAA Track and Field 4×100 Relay team that won the State 2-A Championship last year. Also on that team if info serves correct were SG Storm students Darren Garcia and William Graves.*****
