HS Football Friday Night matchups with AM950 Call

There has already been one game moved to Monday night with the Eastern Guilford at McMichael game getting the old heave-hoe with the postponement announcement flashing at news-record.com.

We plan on seeing some football tonight with our AM950 game showcasing the Dudley Panthers at the Northeast Guilford Rams. We also will have updates on East Forsyth at Page, Grimsley at Northwest Guilford, Rockingham County at Southeast Guilford, Southwestern Randolph at Ragsdale, High Point Central at Smith and Western Alamance at Western Guilford…..

The full slate of games with our picks thrown in for good measure and after last week’s record of (12-0) it might be time to pack in it for the winter. From the top we have Dudley at NEG and we’ll take the Panthers 29-14…East Forsyth at Page and we know Page has offense after watchng them four times this season, but it will be up to the Page defense to get to EF QB Danny O’Brien and give it up to the Pirates at home, 26-21 Page…Grimsley at Northwest Guilford and we’ll take the home team Vikings and their running game with Kennedy and Ples and NWG takes it 28-14…Rockingham County at Southeast Guilford and this is the Falcons’ Homecoming, at least that’s what we are hearing and we have SEG over RC 35-13…Southwestern Randolph at Ragsdale and the Tigers should be able to name their score after SEG topped SWR 28-0 last Friday night. Take the Tigers in their last regular-season game before Asheboro, 42-7 RHS…High Point Central at Smith and the Bison should get back on track with a 27-12 win over the Golden Eagles…Western Alamance handles Western Guilford one week prior to Dudley as the Warrors wear out the Hornets 35-15…

Northern Guilford beat Charlotte Victory Christian earlier in the season and Victory Christian just beat Highland Tech 30-7 last Friday night, so we’ll take the Northern Guilford Nighthawks at home over Highland Tech 35-7…WS Carver(6-1) at HP Andrews(4-2) and we’ll take the visiting Yellowjackets over the Raiders 20-13…Southern Guilford at West Stokes and you have to stick with the Storm after all they’ve been through and to pull one out 20-19 at home last Friday over WS Atkins after being down 19-7. We’ll stick with SG(5-3) over WStokes(6-2), 20-14 Storm. SG fell 21-20 two weeks ago, won 20-19 last week, so you know they have to score at least 20 points this evening…Reagan at Southwest Guilford and the Raiders take out the Cowboys 17-13…..

We were talking about Coach Steven Davis from Dudley here at the site last Sunday and making a pitch on how he would be a good fit to take over as the coach at N.C. A&T if the Aggies made a change, and they did, and the topic is being looked into again today in the News and Record. Here’s what Coach Davis told the N&R’s Robert Bell about the possibility of being the man at A&T:
“I would definitely like to do that,” Davis said. “Some people may not believe it, but with the facilities they have, which are some of the best in (the NCAA’s Football Championship Subdivision), and the talent in this state, A&T has the potential to be one of the best programs in the country.”

Davis said no one from N.C. A&T has contacted him about the job. And because his Dudley Panthers are ranked No. 1 in the 3-A poll and are making a run at a second straight state title, Davis said he’s not even thinking about a new job — at least not now.

“After the season, if they were to call, I would definitely listen,” Davis said. “I know there will be a lot of good, successful coaches to choose from. I think I’ve been pretty successful, too, and could be (successful) there.”(More on this at www.news-record.com)

Someone was questioning by E-mail today whether we were really on the Steven Davis/N.C. A&T story earlier in the week. Here’s what we had at GREENSBOROSports.com this past Sunday:
Speaking of N.C. A&T, wouldn’t it be a crazy move if Coach Steven Davis made the jump from Dudley to the Aggies? Coach Davis could take Ricky Lewis Jr. with him and he could also load up on Panther linemen and take them across town from Lincoln to East Market Street. Josh Jones, Chris Neal, Darius Hall, and maybe at least 5 more Panthers could join Coach Davis at A&T. Coach Davis is an Aggie grad and he would make the fans proud. You say he doesn’t have college experience, but Coach Davis would do a better job than current Coach Lee Fobbs if you took a survey on the Aggie campus after last weekend’s Homecoming game.
