The all-district squads are comprised of football students from NCAA Division II and III and NAIA institutions in the five-state area from Virginia to Florida. Nominees were starters or key reserves of sophomore academic standing or above who maintained at least a 3.3 grade point average.

Brunson, a 5-11, 245-pound defensive end, has started all eight of Guilford’s games this season. He leads the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and ranks 12th in NCAA Division III with 1.06 sacks per game. His league-leading 8.5 sacks mark Guilford’s most since 1991 and stand sixth in school history. Brunson ranks second in the conference and 66th nationally with 1.44 tackles for loss per game. He ranks eighth on the team in tackles (31), which includes a team-high 11.5 stops behind the line. Brunson made a career-high three sacks among his season-best eight tackles in the Quakers’ Oct. 18 loss to Bridgewater College. He has 15 sacks among his 148 career tackles in 27 games, Guilford’s fourth-highest career figure.

A two-time member of Guilford’s Student-Athlete Honor Roll, Brunson is a psychology major. He was named to the 2007-08 Academic All-ODAC squad and is one of 10 students in Guilford’s Principled Problem Solving Scholars Program. Brunson also serves on the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Coach Kevin Kiesel’s Quakers are 4-4 (1-3 ODAC) entering Saturday’s home finale with league-leading Catholic University of America. Homecoming kickoff in the Armfield Athletic Center is 1:00 p.m.
