Bishop boys are playing bigger

Nice mention of Coach Josh Thompson and his Bishop boys with Tom Keller in today’s N&R, and it’s a fact, the Bishop boys are playing bigger. Only one loss for the Bishop McGuinness boys this season and that was back in early December to the Grimsley Whirlies.

Here’s the report from Coach Thompson on how the Bishop boys made out last night.

Toomey’s triple double leads Villains. Bishop finally shook off a pesky Elkin team down the stretch to finish the conference season undefeated at 16-0. The Villains exploded in the third quarter for 29 points. Aaron Toomey and freshman Matthew Paspy combined for 21 points in the third. Bishop center Jake McSwain provided the other 8 in the quarter. Elkin rallied in the fourth to cut the lead to six late, but Toomey sealed the win at the free throw line for the Villains.

Aaron Toomey- 26 pts, 10 assists, 10 rebs, 4 steals

Bishop 23-1, 16-0
Elkin 4-15, 3-13

  1. Bishop has no chance in the state playoffs because of their weak schedule. Beating Rockingham COunty who is 2-20 is a big deal? Come on!
