Duke’s McClure in for sure as Hansbrough and Carolina Barnstorming Tour head to town

Duke’s David McClure and Globetrotter Antwan Scott join Tyler Hansbrough and the Carolina Barnstorming Tour

Greensboro, NC – The 2009 Carolina Barnstorming Tour, featuring Tyler Hansbrough and the senior classes of the UNC and Duke basketball teams, has made two new additions to its already impressive roster. Duke forward, David McClure, will join his teammate Greg Paulus in representing the Blue Devils when they play a basketball game at the Greensboro Coliseum’s Special Events Complex on April 10th against a team of Greensboro high school seniors.

McClure is a four-year letterman for Duke and has played a prominent role in their ACC and NCAA Tournament runs this season.

Another new addition to the roster is former Wake Forest Demon Deacon, Antwan Scott. A 2002 graduate of Wake Forest, Scott, also known as the “8th Wonder”, spent three years with the Harlem Globetrotters and is also a member of the And 1 Mix Tape Tour.

  1. They can only use high school seniors from the private schools. Public schools will not allow participation in these types of games.

We may well see Javan Mitchell, Jay Lewis and maybe a couple of more guys from Greensboro Day School, could see a John Johnson or James Robbins from High Point Wesleyan. I hope they go after kids like Plumlee and Geiger from Christ School and they could even bring in John Wall or CJ Leslie from Word of God if they were interested. Ryan Kelly from Ravenscroft might be another kid who could suit up us.

Not sure if a kid like Ross Diachenko from Bishop McGuinness could play. Bishop is private but they play public.

Coach Freddy Johnson from Greensboro Day will be in charge of the high school team and you won’t see public school seniors, but the HS seniors will come from the private schools. They would love to have the public school kids but again, the rules won’t allow it.

  2. It’ll be graduating college seniors not high school seniors from private schools.

It’ll be people who were formerly in the area or graduates of Guilford, Elon, and places of the like…

  3. The article talks about high school seniors but what the Tarheel fan is saying makes sense to me and we will go with that…..The college guys would be much more mature and experienced. There’s no way Coach Johnson will put a fluke team on the floor.

Look for Guilford, Elon, High Point and other area private college players……

We hope to have a roster for you the week of the event.

  4. how can public schools have say over players that have used all of their eligibility? It would be my thinking that if it was high school kids, then anyone could play.

  5. The word now is that we are talking about college seniors and not high school guys. The press release said HS but now we are talking college players from private institutions.

Private schools like Elon, Guilford, High Point, Catawba, Lenior Rhyne and others.

So it will be college players versus college players.

Will see Tyler Hansbrough, Danny Green, Greg Paulus, David McClure and others from North Carolina, Duke etc……

  6. yeah that does make more sense and is the way I remember those barn storming events always being.

I remember going to High Point College way back when watching ACC seniors play seniors from Davidson, High Point, Guilford etc. Those use to be pretty big events, something to look forward to every year then they seemed to stop doing them.
