Canes North win 2009 16U World Wood Bat National Championship‏

The Canes North 16’s Showcase team won the 16u WWBA National Championship this past week in East Cobb, GA. The Canes went undefeated at 9 -0 -1 to claim the title. During their championship run, the Canes outscored their opponents by an 81 -16 margin. The WWBA comprised of 173 teams from 38 states and Canada.

Dillon Maples of Pinecrest High School threw a complete game no-hitter in the Championship game to lead the Canes to a 6 – 0 win.

Several kids from the Triad had great performances this week that helped lead the Canes to the National Championship. The list includes:

  1. Congratulations to the Canes Organization for such a tremendous accomplishment. Jeff Petty has worked very hard to put together such a talented group of kids. The pitching staff dominated the entire week at East Cobb. This championship is something the boys will remember for years to come as everyone contributed in the title run.
