Del Curry and Two LPGA Players Will Also Play

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Davidson College alumnus Stephen Curry, former Charlotte Hornets player Del Curry, and LPGA players Marcy Hart and Anna Rawson will play in the Wyndham Championship Pro-Ams, it was announced today.

Stephen Curry will play in the New Breed Logistics Pro-Am on Wednesday, Aug. 19. Curry played three seasons for the Davidson Wildcats and led the nation in scoring with 28.6 points per game in the 2008-09 NCAA men’s basketball season. He entered the NBA draft following his junior year and was selected by the Golden State Warriors as the seventh overall pick. He is an alumnus of Charlotte Christian School.

Stephen Curry’s father, Del, will also compete in the New Breed Logistics Pro-Am. The elder Curry retired from the NBA in 2002 after a 16-year career during which he played 11 seasons for the former Charlotte Hornets. He served as an assistant coach for the Charlotte Bobcats in 2007 and is an alumnus of Virginia Tech University where is a member of the Hall of Fame.

Hart, a native of Thomasville, N.C., will play in the Wrangler Pro-Am on Monday, Aug. 17. She has been a regular on the LPGA Tour since 2004 but is still seeking her first LPGA victory. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000 and joined the LPGA Tour in 2001. She is also hosting the Wyndham Championship youth golf clinic at Jamestown Park Golf Course on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Hart hosts the annual Marcy Hart LPGA Charity Classic Pro-Am in High Point, N.C. to benefit Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test, the Greensboro, N.C.-based non-profit organization dedicated solely to funding research to find an earlier biological test for breast cancer.

Rawson, a native of Adelaide, South Australia, will play in both the Wrangler Pro-Am on Monday and the New Breed Logistics Pro-Am on Wednesday. Lawson joined the LPGA Tour in 2008 and is still seeking her first LPGA victory. She competed on the Ladies’ European Tour before finishing 12th in the 2007 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament and earning playing privileges for the 2008 season.

Rawson graduated from the University of Southern California in 2004 with a degree in communications and turned professional that year; she was a member of the 2003 NCAA championship team while at USC. She was the medalist 1999 and 2000 Australian Amateur Championships She also has a successful modeling career.

The 70th Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 17-23, 2009 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
