The Guilford County Championship will be played in Jamestown on Friday

The winner will be (4-0) after Friday night’s BIG football battle between the Page Pirates(3-0) and the Ragsdale Tigers(3-0).

Game one of this magnitude was played at Ragsdale a couple of weeks back, when Ragsdale defeated Dudley 18-8 and now round two of the County Championship is set to take center stage this week when the Tigers play host to the Pirates.

If both teams were to continuing winning there could be a round three, when Ragsdale hosts Northwest Guilford(3-0) on October 16.

If Page wins on Friday night they would take the invisible trophy with them back to Marion Kirby Stadium and would prepare to face all-comers on future Fridays this season.

We will have more on names and numbers as the week progresses and until then, who is going to win on Friday in Jamestown?????

Early thoughts on Phan, Gordon, Rogers running at McNeil, Ellison, Sparks, Stone, Armwood and McQueen……What about Heavner passing to Anderson and Sonrricker and the running of D’onavan Smith and the Page “D” with Jon Spain, Tony Rustin, DJ Todd, Alonzo Campbell and then there’s the kicking matchups with Redfern and Anthony………..

It’s hard not to mention a few names early in this discussion…….

  1. I like Ragsdale’s chances in this big matchup. I truly think the passing game will be the difference. Heavner has a few great targets and he as proven that he can get the ball where it needs to go. Also he has speed to make a play when things break now. Ragsdale’s defense speaks for itself and I expect they too will again have a big game.

  2. I have to mention some boys who have opened up the big holes for the Page RB’s, so they definitely need to be mentioned…

    Ryan Wicker – left tackle
Big Will Foxx – left guard
    Russell Senini – center
    JD Gaylon – right guard
    Darius Barnhardt – right tackle

Hopefully they come ready to open up some holes on Friday night…Page knows that Ragsdale won’t be like any of the three teams that they have faced, but I’m pretty confident that they will come out trying to win like it…I look forward to a great game…It should be fun…

  3. Ragsdale and Davie Co. have very similar defenses.. Big and athletic up front with a few stout LBs.. Davie’s LB Jared Barber (6’2 225) is a very similar type player in comparison to Walt Sparks. Davie County, just like Ragsdale has one of the best defenses in the state.

Page has been able to open up holes and run on our first 3 opponents.. averaging 326 rushing yards per game.
There are 2 RB’s and 2 FB’s that share carries throughout the game.. FB Khayri Harvey didn’t play last week due to a high ankle sprain, but he will be back and ready to play this Friday.

  4. I would look for Thuc Phan to have a big game this Friday. He really gets the offense going for the Pirates, as he gets the ball on the first play of every game to break a big one, like he did last Friday against Northern Durham. He fumbled twice in that game, which is highly unlike him and I’m sure he will be looking to redeem himself. Also, the quarterback duo of Bruce McKoy and James Summers might give the Tigers some issues. Though they both don’t throw the ball, and don’t really need to with their running game, they both can get outside the pocket and make things happen, and they are pretty good wideouts when the other one is playing quarterback.

  6. The damn flu bug has hit Ragsdale. 2 starting linemen have not practiced this week. If they don’t come to school today and practice then they don’t play. Problem is no depth behind them. Several other players out. Maybe we could send our sick ones over to mingle with yourvarsity guys at the JV game. 😉
