  1. I attended the Northern Guilford – Rockingham soccer game last night. It was Northern’s first senior night. They had four seniors and it was great to see them honored. It has been nice to see them progress from a team of just freshmen and sophomores to a team with all the grades represented. They only won 5 games during their first year. Now they are 9-3-3 and they appear to be poised for a good run in the state tournament. Another positive story from Northern. BTW, they won 7-0 with seven different kids scoring.

  2. How about my man Matt Beck?

I coached his dad in soccer back when Matthew(the dad) was in 7th grade. Very aggressive player and a little bit mischievious. I still remember the day that Matt Sr. broke his arm in practice. It was on a Wednesday and we sure missed his speed and aggressiveness the rest of that season.

    Go Nighthawks and Matt Beck!

  3. good to hear from you coach!

Matt is getting better. He is still real sore after falling around 8 ft onto concrete face first. He broke his jaw and had severe damage to his teeth.
The doctors are treating him good and he is on the road to a full recovery.

Too bad he will mis the remaining soccer season at Northern… GO NIGHTHAWKS!

  4. Matt, that stinks, just like it did that day you broke your arm. He will be back, just like you came back too and nearly killed yourself riding bicycles with that Lackey kid.

Terry Herndon broke his arm a year after you did Matt and he bounced back and if Herndon can do it, anybody can!

Long live the Nighthawks and Junior Hannig and his blue and gold Vikings….

Matt, I ran into Mrs. Brown at the Page-GDS game the other night and she has a grandson that plays JV for Page. #13 he is.

Keep up the good work Matt Beck and good luck with your junior soccer programs…..
