GC women go to 4-0 at home/Allegro nets 5th shutout in win over Salem

Greensboro, NC — Michelle Reger (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) and Tessa Hall (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) scored as Greensboro College shut out Salem College, 2-0, at Pride Field on Tuesday. GC improved to 7-6-1 and the visiting Spirits fell to 9-6-1.

Reger tallied in the 26th minute. Melissa Torzewski (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) found her open on the left side. Reger fired a shot to the right corner that beat Jazmine Bridgemann to the far side. Both Torzewski and Reger had just been inserted into the lineup by GC Head Coach Ian Spooner.

The Pride out shot SC 7-0 in the first half and held a 1-0 lead at the break.

The match’s final tally came in the 59th minute. GC earned a corner kick, which was taken by Mary Reinhardt (Winston-Salem, NC/Mount Tabor). Her cross was deflected by Bridgemann, but Hall one-timed a hard shot in for the goal.

The Pride had 11 shots to eight for Salem. Bridgemann stopped six GC shots.

Greensboro goalkeeper Katie Allegro (Statesville, NC/West Iredell ) had four saves and earned her fifth shutout of the season.

The Pride, which improved to 4-0 at home, hosts Peace College and Meredith College on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Both matches start at 2:30 p.m. and are part of Greensboro College’s homecoming festivities.
