Comets come close, but North Forsyth dodges late run and AHS’s Hilliard goes over 1,000 points

Vikings conquer the Comets…………

North Forsyth showed why they are the 4th ranked 3A team in the state last night as they beat the Asheboro Blue Comets 74-56. North Forsyth hit the first 3 three’s they took in building a 21-11 first quarter lead.

The Vikings pushed the lead up to 26 points before the Comets delivered a 17-0 run to cut the lead to just 9 points at the beginning of the fourth quarter. It was too little too late as the Vikings regrouped and built the lead back to double digits.

The Comets were already short-handed as Deshaun Jones was unable to play because of a concussion he received in a game the night before. The Vikings made a concerted effort to deny the ball to Saegan Hilliard for their defensive game plan. Hilliard still responded by being the game’s high scorer with 19 points. In doing so, Hilliard surpassed 1,000 points as a varsity player for the Blue Comets.
