FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The USA South has announced their Athletes of the Week. The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during that week.
Jackie Lyles has been named the USA South Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week. The freshman guard from River Mill Academy helped the Monarchs to a 1-1 record versus USA South competition last week by averaging 17.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.0 assists per game. In an 80-61 win over N.C. Wesleyan, Lyles contributed team-highs of 20 points, four assists and three steals. She also added two rebounds in the victory. In an 86-60 loss to nationally-ranked Christopher Newport, Lyles scored 15 points, grabbed six rebounds, collected a team-high five steals, dished out a team-high two assists and blocked one shot. She is the daughter of Charles and Valencia Lyles.
