Spartans vs. Mountaineers tonight at the Greensboro Coliseum at 7pm and I ran into App-commitment Jonathan Frye last night at the Guilford College library and he said he would be in the house tonight for the game which should draw a large crowd since there is a large number of Appalachian State grads in the area….

Jonathan Frye also said that Northern Guilford will be in action with four games this week to close out the regular season with contests on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and he agreed with me that in the conference tournament, Eastern Alamance and Eastern Guilford should be the favorites along with Northern Guilford…..

Tonight at the Greensboro Coliseum:
UNCG comes home to complete a 3-in-5 stretch in the schedule, hosting rival Appalachian State. The Spartans dropped a pair over the weekend, falling at Furman on Thursday and Wofford on Saturday.

ASU won the first meeting this season in Boone, 72-64. The teams have split their regular season meetings each of the last four seasons. UNCG had the last sweep back in 2004-05.

Ben Stywall has been impressive this season. In the last seven games, Stywall has five doubles-doubles and is averaging 18.0 ppg and 12.9 rpg, while shooting 50 percent from the floor. He leads the conference in rebounding at 10.4 rpg and is eighth in scoring at 14.2 ppg. He leads the league with 11 double-doubles, eight against the SoCon and three against ACC teams. He is 13th in the nation in rebounding and 19th in double-doubles.
