Quakers victory makers on Friday night

Guilford College 75
Wooster 68

*****I was at the game and the Quakers got off to a great start with their 12-0 run to begin the game. Wooster cut the lead to 14-6 and later in the half Guilford went on another extended run of 15-0 to go up 29-11 before settling on a 40-22 lead going into halftime….

Wooster got a 14-4 run going to start the second half and turned that into a 19-6 run, as the Guilford College Quakers haftime lead of 18 was cut to just five points…

Guilford kept hanging and the Quakers went to win the game 75-68 and now they will face fellow-ODAC Conference foe Eastern Mennonite on Saturday night for the right to go to Salem, Virginia next weekend for the DIII Final Four…….

Good job Guilford College with Tyler Sanborn, Clay Henson, Rhett Bonner, TC Anderson, Josh Pittman, Martin Stephenson, Gabriel Lowder, Brad Monroe and Tobi Akinsola all with another good effort in the win tonight/Friday…..*****

  1. Andy,

I was there too. The crowd was great. A packed house.. would you say over 2,000 fans were there?

  2. Chris,

The place was packed and the noise level was at a stage that I have never heard in that in building.

I heard that they had to stop selling tickets up top because it was a near sell-out.

That stat sheet had the crowd listed at 1750, but it looked like there were more fans than that, or least I would be more in agreement with your 2,000-plus estimate.

I hope that the Quakers get that same turn out this evening. Ragan-Brown Field House is a great place to watch a game and hopefully the community support will be there in full force again tonight as Guilford takes on Eastern Mennonite at 7pm….
