Hoppers win three straight to create turn-around

The Greensbsoro Grasshoppers have won three straight games in a turn-around of sorts, that has seen their current record improve to (7-11).

On Sunday the Hoppers topped the Lakewood New Jersey BlueClaws 8-7 and when you add in the Saturday night 4-2 win over Lakewood and the Friday road win at Delmarva, the Hoppers have now won three in-a-row…..

Terrance Dayleg hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning yesterday afternoon, to spark a late comeback, that helped give the Hoppers the Sunday win. This was the first long ball of the season for Dayleg and it couldn’t have come at a better time for Greensboro.

The Hoppers had a lead that Lakewood had taken away and the HR by Dayleg proved to be just enough to get the Hoppers over the top and to keep them there for the victory…

Greensboro starter Erik Carrillo went five solid innings for the Grasshoppers and he left the game with the win in his back pocket, but the Hoppers bullpen wasn’t up to snuff on Sunday and Carrillo ended up getting a no-decision for his efforts….

Rand Smith, the Hoppers centerfielder continued his hot-hitting with a 3-5 day at the plate and two more RBI’s, to go along with the three runs that he drove in on Saturday night…..

Former Greensboro Grasshoppers catcher Torre Langley, is on the Lakewood roster and he got into the game late on Sunday, as he came on as a BlueClaw pinch-runner; while in the end, the Hoppers got the victory with the win going to reliever Anellis Martinez.

Edgar Olmos will be on the hill for the Hoppers tonight, as they face Lakewood in game three of the four game set, on Money Off Monday at NewBridge Bank Park……

  1. They will have their hands full when Rome comes to town this week.

    Greensboro is Braves Country!

  2. Hoppers currently (7-11) and Rome is (7-11)….Bring on the Bravos….

Did anyone see the Spaz clone at Sunday’s game? Spaz was gone and there was someone filling in for Spaz and he looked just like Spaz except this guy had the makings of a beard and he had dark hair….

Otherwise this guy was Spaz…Voice, mannerisms, body languaage, everything was Spaz II, but in the form of another person……

Spaz clones? Call Dr. Spock or Dr. Spaz, ASAP…….
