The Stanleys enjoy the sweet taste of success at State Games on Saturday

Not a bad Father’s Day weekend for Grimsley HS instructor/teacher Robert Stanley and his son(Justin), as they traveled down to the North Carolina State Games at the Grady Cole Center, in Charlotte, on Saturday and Mr. Stanley’s son brought home something he and his dad together, can be very proud of…..

A Silver Medal in the 140 pound weight class at the State Games….That has to feel good on Father’s Day to see your son experience that sweet taste of success on the mat……Congrats on the mat to Robert Stanley and Justin, as you know they both have worked hard to reach this level and they hope to cash in that Silver, next year, and go for the Gold when the State Games come to Winston-Salem in 2011….

Mr. Robert Stanley is very proud of Justin’s accomplishments and he has a right to be…..Wrestling is very tough and could you imagine if they did the wrestling outside, in this weather(Extreme Heat), during the games…If you weighed 140 going in, you might weigh 130 coming out….

We received this note from the proud father, Robert Stanley, this morning……

My son participated in the State Games in wrestling on Saturday. He won a silver
medal in the 140 weight class in the Cadet group. The State Games will in be in
Winston-Salem next year so I hope more Greensboro area people will participate.

  1. Andy,
My son’s name is Justin and he will a junior next year at Grimsley. We would like to thank Coach Coiro at Grimsley and Coach Bullard at Northern who got him hooked on wrestling in the 7th grade. Without them he would not be the person he is today.

  2. Congratulations Justin. I know you have worked hard and decided to concentrate your athletic efforts specifically on wrestling. I’m glad to see you doing so well. Keep up the good work.
