Brandon Burkes, an outstanding football and baseball player from Dudley High School, suffered a serious injury in football practice earlier this week……
We need to keep this young man in our thoughts and prayers and he is due to have surgery this afternoon…..
Brandon is rare athlete, his skills are unreal…. Hard-nosed linebacker/fullback for Dudley, the Panthers’ kicker and the best kicker that we have ever seen at Duldey and on the baseball team at shortstop and as a pitcher, he plays lights-out baseball and can hit the ball as far and as long, as you will ever see…I saw him hit two home runs, in the same game against Southeast Guilford this year and he hit one out of NewBridge Bank Park, back in the spring when the Panthers played Smith…..
I have talked to his dad many times over the past couple of years and have met and followed his brother Ronnie and watched his baseball career and the Burkes are a fine family….
Do us a favor and keep Brandon Burkes and his family in your thoughts and prayers, as Brandon goes to surgery this afternoon and thank-you in advance and I’m sure the Burkes family will thank you later too….
The Brandon Burkes story it was sent to me last night:
Brandon Burkes suffered an injury during Football practice on Monday. He broke his neck in two places and is having surgery tomorrow (Thursday) at 2pm. One of his coaches spent some time with Brandon Wednesday at the hospital, he’s in great spirits.
We will do our best to keep you updated on his condition……

I did not mention the details above, but it will be a five-hour surgery and we need to keep Brandon at the top of the list today…..

This type of thing really put things in perspective on how quickly your life can change forever. I realize even more how much i’m blessed to have gotten up and walked away from so many tackles.
