Greensboro College ends up in 1-1 soccer tie in OT’s

St. Mary’s, Md. — The Greensboro College men’s soccer team earned a 1-1 tie in two overtimes at St. Mary’s College of Maryland on Saturday. Joe Peluso (Ashburn, VA/Notre Dame Academy) scored off a pass from Chris Davis (Lakenheath, England/Lakenheath) for The Pride’s tally. Box score

Peluso’s goal was in the 37th minute. He took a diagonal pass from Davis and flicked it over goalie Paul Spranklin’s head. The score was Peluso’s second of the year.

The Seahawks tied the game 15 minutes later. Mark Jaskolski netted an unassisted goal. He right-footed kick into top left corner from far post that beat GC keeper Woody Wilder (Wytheville, VA/George Wythe).

Wilder made 12 saves for The Pride. Spranklin stopped 4 GC shots.

The Seahawks had 32 shots to 13 for GC. They also led in corner kicks, 10-3.

Greensboro is now 1-2-1 and St. Mary’s is 0-3-1.

The Pride faces Salisbury at St. Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.
