*GREENSBORO, N.C. –**Meredith Smith*’s* (Mebane, N.C./Eastern
Alamance) *12 kills on .355 hitting paced North Carolina Wesleyan College to
a 25-23, 25-21, 25-17 nonconference volleyball victory at Guilford College
Thursday.
The closely played match featured 17 ties and seven lead changes. The
Battling Bishops rallied from a 23-19 first-set deficit to win, 25-23. *
Smith* had two kills among her teams’ final five points.
*Mackenzie Tingle* came up big for the Battling Bishops (9-7) with 21
assists and four service aces. *Kelly George* added 27 digs in the win.
*Brittany Freeman* had nine kills and *Traci Teague *added eight in
Guilford’s loss at home. Rookie setter *Taylor Whitley* had a match-high 28
assists and teammate *Taylor Phillips* picked up a career-high 28 digs. *Traci
Teague *also added three blocks for the Quakers (8-7).
The Quakers host Old Dominion Athletic Conference opponent Randolph-Macon
College Saturday (10/2) in a 3:00 p.m. match in Ragan-Brown Field House.
