Phenom Quote of the Day: “The best way to predict the future is to create
it.”
Phenom Hoop Report Philosophy: “Balanced, thorough, and detailed evaluations
based upon the 3 P’s philosophy of Performance, Production, and Potential.”
Phenom Hoop Report Part III
Player: 6’2 Shai Carpenter
Hometown: Maulden, SC
High School: Maulden
Class: 2011
Phenom Hoop Report: LM
Carpenter is a quick and speedy PG that has good skill sets. Plays extremely
hard on both ends of the floor and has good speed in the open court. He also
has a high basketball IQ, but needs to be more vocal on the court. With his
skill set and athletic ability, schools in the Big South should carefully
check him out.
Player: 6’1 Carlos Rankins
Hometown: Greensboro, NC
High School: Oak Ridge Military
Class: 2012
Phenom Hoop Report: MM/MM+
I have written about Rankins numerous times in the past. He is a strong and
athletic scoring PG that loves to attack the basket. He has a solid mid
range game, but could be more consistent from the outside. He has extremely
tight handles and has a tremendous upside. He plays for ORM and they are
loaded with point guards so he will have to share the point guard
responsibilities. Unfortunately, he plays at the 2G position at times, with
his long range position being strictly the PG position. Has tremendous
upside.
Player: 6’2 Gavin Wilson
Hometown: Raleigh, NC
High School: Garner
Class: 2012
Phenom Hoop Report: MM
I really feel Wilson is a player that is way under the radar. He is a strong
and athletic PG that plays extremely hard. He has good court vision and
tight handles. Like Carlos Rankins, he really likes to attack the basket.
That being said, he is a PG MM should closely monitor. Right now, his
strength and athleticism is there.
Player: 6’0 Denzel Ingram
Hometown: Chapel Hill, NC
High School: Chapel Hill
Class: 2012
Phenom Hoop Report: LM+/MM
Ingram has improved each outing at the Phenom 150 camp and he is pushing the
magical 6 foot mark. He is a strong and athletic PG that handles the ball
really well. He is more of a past first PG and is strong on both ends of the
floor.
Player: 6’5 Phillip Hayes
Hometown: Knightdale, NC
High School: North Raleigh Christian Academy
Class: 2014
Phenom Hoop Report: LM+/MM
Phillip Hayes is a young player that is oozing with tremendous potential. He
played the first day of camp somewhat injured, but he should a lot of heart
in sticking it and finishing camp. With his size and athletic ability, MM
schools should really monitor his progress over the next few years.
Player: 5’11 Theo Mack
Hometown: Huntersville, NC
High School: William A. Hough
Class: 2014
Phenom Hoop Report: TBD
Theo is one of those kids you just enjoy coaching. He has a great attitude
on and off the court. He has solid ball handling skills and sees the floor
really well, but needs to be more consistent on his outside jumper. Still
quite young, shows a lot of heart and hustle during the weekend.
Player: 6’3 Keenam Orr
Hometown: Rock Hill, SC
High School: Northwestern
Class: 2012
Phenom Hoop Report: LM
Keenam Orr is a versatile and athletic WG that has the ability to shooter
the mid range shot and attack the basket with authority. Orr does a little
bit of everything well and would be a great utility combo guard for a Big
South type team.
Phenom Hoop Report Part IV will be posted tomorrow
