Forsyth Country Day junior point guard Tyler Lewis, who lives in Statesville, has committed to N.C. State, coach Craig Dawson said in a news release.
Lewis committed after taking an unofficial visit to N.C. State Thursday. Lewis also considered offers from Wake Forest, Miami, UNC Charlotte and Davidson.
Last season, Lewis averaged 20 points, 8.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds and two steals. He shot 57 percent from the field and 78 percent from the free throw line while leading his team to a 22-8 record.
Lewis in one of the top point guards to ever come through our area and he has been starting for the FCD Furies, since back when he was in the 8th grade and he might have gotten a few starts, even when he was in the 7th grade…..
Lowe is going to lose his job offering that kid a scholarship!
???????
Good ballplayer, Great Kid but not to sure he is an ACC point guard
do you got anything on the Quality education invitational
if the likes of Monte Towe, Chris Corchiani, and Greg Mannig can do it, this kid has a chance. Needs to work on his shot but he can be a great floor general and get open looks for the ones who can run the court.
Ryan Harrow will be ready to jump in two years if he does well at N.C. State and he moves on to the NBA, then Lewis can be his understudy next year and then take the PG spot after that and he has been on the college coaches’ radar since he was in the 8th grade…..I saw him at the MLK Day Games back in 2007 and coaches were on him then….
The kid can run the show from the point and he is right at 5’11 and he can dunk, so the kid can do it all….
He gets the ball up the court and to the basket as quick as any kid that I have ever seen and you’ll see it too when you watch his games….One of the best transition players, if not the best, on the high school level in NC right now…..
Harrow is lean and skinny and he will be the man at State in the backcourt and Tyler Lewis can be the man later on too…..Sidney Lowe should know point guards, the only problem is that in the past, he hasn’t been able to get them to come to N.C. State, and now he has….
Bob Cousy’s got nothing on this kid, at least ask Rondo about Cousy’s record, but then again, that may not apply here, but back to Tyler, the kid can play….He is in the process of getting stronger too….
What was that Celtic asssit record? 25 or 26 in one game by Cousy and Rondo ended up with 24 the other night?????
Tyler Lewis can flat out play the game. He is always the smartest guy on the court. You ask any of the top players he plays with on the AAU circuit and they can’t believe how good he is. When he gets stronger over the next couple years he will be scary good.A TRUE point guard…hard to find. NC State got themselves a gem.
Tyler Lewis skewered Christ School’s Eric Smith (now at USC) in the state tournament last year until Smith canned a J in his face at the buzzer. If he can play with the likes of Smith, he can play at NCSU.
Lewis can’t play at this level. He travels everytime he makes a move. If you don’t believe me go to youtube and watch his videos in slow motion. Pay close attention when he goes behind his back. A reef could call it everytime. It;s AAU so they let it go.
The crazy thing about Tyler that we have to keep in mind is, that he is only a junior this year and he can keep on getting much better, with two years still left to play in HS…….
