News from www.charlotteobserver.com:

Matthews Butler’s Riley Ferguson was 8-for-8 for 152 yards and three scores against East Forsyth. The Bulldogs sophomore quarterback has been very effective all season for the (12-0) ‘Dogs and it still kind of makes you wonder how good this Butler team might have really been, if senior QB Christian Lemay would have still been around….

ROCKINGHAM
Providence can’t figure out how to beat Richmond Senior. For the second year in a row, the Raiders ended the Panthers’ season in the playoffs, this time with a 35-0 shutout in the first round of the 4A West playoffs.

Richmond Senior (11-1), No. 4 in the state, which has beaten Providence four times in the past two seasons, didn’t need any help, but the Panthers gave it to them early on.

On the Panthers’ first drive, senior quarterback Chauncey Concepcion was picked off by L.J. Stroman, who ran it all the way back to the 2.

One play later, Walter Ellerbe bulled his way up the middle for a score and a 7-0 Raider advantage.

After Providence forced a Richmond turnover on the next series, the Raiders got the ball right back when Concepcion fumbled on the Raiders’ 10.

Five plays later, Ellerbe burst up the middle untouched for a 46-yard touchdown run and a 14-0 Richmond Senior lead. Ellerbe finished with 103 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries, after rushing for 122 yards against Providence in the season opener.

“For me, it is just a natural instinct to make people miss (tackles),” Ellerbe said, whose team will host Northwest Guilford in the second round.

  1. That would give him 15 TD’S and 6 picks on the year. He is playing in a great football program with lots of talent. Would make any QB look good. Page will surprise Butler since they have alot of talent as well. Lemay is a top QB and most likely would have about 40 TD’S and couple of picks and about 4000 yds if he played this year.

  2. Page is Page ,they have some talent, but Smith walked a funky dog on them, and got blowed up in the 1st round. Now,maybe if they were playin’ @ the”Kirb”,nah wouldn’t make much difference, they’re only good against the Guilford county schools. They don’t get the pick of the litter like back in the day ! lol Season over friday night !!!!

  3. B Real,

Page may take one on the chin this Friday night, but I still say they are one year away. They will return 18 starters next year. Not only that, I’ve heard there were two brothers (one a junior and one a sophomore) who just transferred in from Florida. Both I’ve heard are big and being 6’4” right now with the junior already having received offers from some major D-1 schools. With that, I do believe that Page is getting back to getting the pick of the litter.
