HS Hoops Tonight for 12/9/10

Oak Ridge Military Academy boys in the A-Rod Classic in Miami, Florida…..(Sponsored by Alex Rodriguez….)

Dudley at Reidsville

Northwest Guilford at Page 6pm….This has the makings of one heck of a game, especially in the girls contest, where I believe both clubs are unbeaten…..Natalie Harper, Michelle Williams, Harmony White, Kaitlyn Shelton and other Vikings will meet Brittany Drew, Paris Kea, Imani and Johnson at the Mac Morris Gym….I have seen both teams once and I hope to be at this one tonight……NWG’s Alyssa Munson may be a big factor and I mean BIG….She is a tall girl and she is much-improved from last season…..Seems to be longer and stronger and that is meant to be complimentary…..Page is fast with Drew and Kea, so this should be the game to see-ah tonight……

Boys game should be evenly matched with NWG and the three-man weave, patient offense out front and Page with Eaves, Kent, Summers, Conners, Fonville and maybe some Sykes thrown in for good measure….Page will move it up and down the court and we look for Eaves to get to the foul line, at least about 10-12 times tonight…..NWG’s Hunter Clary was hot the other night over at Grimsley and he should be equally as warm and be prepared to pose a threat, tonight at Page and we need to be talking more about the man who is back, Keaton Haack….We haven’t said much about him yet and he could be a scoring factor for Northwest….NWG also has some other new faces and we will get to know those guys better as the year moves on….Matt Pawlowski will get his share of assists and for one, and it is probably just me, I would like to see him shoot more…Matt P., very unselfish player and works on his role continuously at the point….

  1. Those tournaments like the ARod are great experiences for kids, but money and the creation of 50-100 elite basketball powerhouses has limited participation top tier but not elite programs like ours. Winning the Pizza Hut every year is not challenging the way the Las Vegas tournaments were. Then, Vic Sapp and coach Johnson were the two most powerful people in NC basketball circles. When coach Johnson backed away, Justin Smith stepped up and provided great support for Vic and the Gaters. With Vic, Justin, and Steve Shelton gone, the Gaters are really struggling. ORMA is the only school locally that can do this now, even they won’t be able to play at that level once this group graduates. We’ll see!!!!!
