  1. If the award is considered “all tournament team”, then why does it normally only include players from the winning team or the final two teams. I did not see every game or player that this tournament had to offer but there were a few players that stood out from my memory (outside of the 2 final teams).

Page – I enjoyed watching #23 (Aletta Smith) before she turned her ankle in the first game. She played harded and she was not afraid to attack the basket and make defensive stops.

GDS – I enjoyed watching #23 (Ronata Rogers). She was by far the best post player in this tournament. She must have blocked 3+ shots per game, controlled the boards and she could score up to 15 feet with a nice jump shot. She should have been on the all tournament team.

Northern – I enjoyed seeing #30 (Aliyah Grinage) finish when cutting to the basket. Too many girls during this tournament would miss easy layups or short shots but Aliyah did a good job of finishing her shots with energy.

  2. The one thing that puzzled me is the way the brackets were set up. Northwest girls were aligned with the weakest teams in the county. The championship game was the only game that they had to play hard in throughout the whole tournament, while Smith had to play hard the entire tournament. Smith played Page the first day and Northern the second day and both games were high impact and exhausting for the girls. Northwest played Northeast (0-6) the first day, beat them by 80 points and Ragsdale (2-6) beat them by 30. The other team in their bracket was Grimsley(1-6) who didnt score 70 point combined for the whole tournament. Looks like Northwest was set up to win the tournament before the first game was played. Way to go VIKING you really had to play hard competition to get to the finals!
