ORMA in finals of Bass Pro Shops TOC in Springfield, Missouri(Lawson out with injury)

Oak Ridge Military Academy defeated De Lasalle of Chicago by the score of 60-42
in the semi-finals of the Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions in Springfield,
Missouri. Chris Jones led the Cadets with 27 points while Michael Neal
hit 3 three point shots and tallied nine points. Michael Obacha held Illinois
signee, Mike Shaw, to just 4 points while tallying 8 rebounds for himself.
Jacob Lawson had 8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks before incurring an injury to
his achilles tendon in the 4th quarter. The extent of his injury has not been
determined but he will not play in the championship game tonight at 7:30 PM
against Douglass HS from Oklahoma City, OK. This game will be televised by CBS
Sports nationally and will be aired on Monday, January 17th.

  1. That’s a pretty impressive win for OaK Ridge. De Lasalle and Simeon are two inner city powerhouses out of Chi town. Tonight will be a big win if they can do it without Lawson–The MLK games could be real good except for couple of early games (hopefully not ours!!)–I just have a feeling we are going to knock the Greenies off. I am just wondering how long it took for them to come up with a name like that—-I guess it’s better than “the steroids” or the “HGHes”—LOL.

  2. Anyone hear if OaK Ridge won? HPCA in the upset of the year. Clifford says the Cadets are ripe for an upset.

  3. Christ School is called the Greenies going back to a newspaper article in Asheville in the earlier decades of the 1900s when someone covered their football game with arch-rival Asheville School. The reporter, in reference to the colors of the two teams’ uniforms, referred to Christ School as the “greenies” and Asheville School as the “blues”. The nicknames stuck and continue to this day.
