  1. The Northern girl’s won tonight by about 20. They played very well tonight and were in control the whole time. Great jobs by the girls and good luck in the next round.

  2. Ng girls score was 64-49. They play Union Pines for the sectional final.
If EG girls won, they play Burlington Williams who beat Westover(fayetteville) by 6

  3. She really is a special player. There is nothing that she can’t do on a basketball court. Stony Brook is lucky to be getting her. I grew up about 30 minutes from that school. I can promise her she will love the food up there, but it is very different. Miranda and Samantha were both special players and it has been a joy to watch them for the last 4 years.

  4. Tom I totally agree with your comments about Samantha and Miranda. It has been exciting to see them in high school ball and aau. Great accomplishments for both girls this year. I am excited to see Samantha in her last home game on Friday. Should be a good one

  5. Looks like Butler and Dudley girls will meet again. This time in Charlotte. Butler beat Nwg 50-40 and Dudley squeaked passed RJ Reynolds 51-49 OT

  6. I agree that the Page girls could have won this game but that would have required them to actually show up and play the game. The Page girls looked uninterested most of the game. Miss Paris could have driven to the basket at any point that she wanted but just did not seem to have the energy tonight. SW face guarded Paris all night and she did not fight thru the defense the way that I would have expected from someone with her ability. I am sure she will have much better nights in the future. Miss Drew showed outstanding leadership for Page tonight and went out like a champ without the ring. She was almost unstoppable during a 6 or 7 minute period that help to cut the lead back to 5 or 6 pts but it just was not enough.

This was my first time seeing Page play this year and it is obvious that they only have 2 key players with Miss Paris and Miss Drew. I hope Miss Drew gets a college schlarship soon because she can help someone on the D2 level and potentially the lower D1 level if her ball handling was greater.

Good Luck SW on Friday !

  7. Page boys should have won game but they have let down and brain fart on defense. they keep getting beat off the dribble and back door cuts and gave up something like 8 And 1 layups where they made stupid fouls after getting beat and Tabor converted all these for old fashion 3 pt play. Page was in deep trouble when Eaves and Summers pick up 3rd and 4 fouls. They sat much of 2nd half. There were some terrible calls that hurt them and put 2 of their best players on bench.

Page miss numerous layups and could not make any shots late in 4th qtr other than free throws by Frankie and Kent. Pirates fought hard to take lead late in game after being down by 12 in 3rd. But couldnt stop Tabor when it counted. They play hard and most starters will be back next year.

  8. To page vs SW girls game:

The Page Lady Pirates were not uninterested..most of them were sick. I think it’s hard to pass judgement when you have only seen the ladies play once. Page has 4 to 5 key players with different abilities.

Also, it depends on what you consider key. We have key offensive and key defensive players. However, I agree that the girls did not play to their potential as a team.

  9. Miranda left her heart on the court last night at Western Harnett; as she does in every game. There were many bad calls against the Lady Cats, but they played a good game. For a team that was expected to win 4-7 games this year, a 25-6 record is excellent and I am so proud of them….

  10. Nobodys game was as interesting as the Northwest Girls vs. Butler. Butler hasn’t been that challenged all year. Northwest came out ready to play with a fire underneath them! Great game and kudos to NWGH for the great game!

  11. If the Page girls were all sick, then I guess they can have a small pass but in the end they just did not show up. I can accept the fact that they were sick but I saw several players run on 1 play and walk on the next or next 2 plays. When I was in high school my coach’s response to players if they were sick was very simple – if you going to play, then play. If you are sick, then go over to that trash can, put your finger down the back of your tongue and get it over with. Come on back when its over and lets play but you must give your best every game. I am a guy but I can honestly said that I have given my daughters the same advice when they play sick.

Let me also say that the “lazy” play was only from 3 or 4 girls the entire game. There were 3 or 4 Page players that gave a good effort. I thought Miss Amani gave good energy off the bench and potentially should have played more from what I saw. I thought Miss Drew played like her life was on the line all night long. I admire the level of energy and the body sacrafice that these 2 girls gave on each play but unfortunately their teammates choose not to play with the same self sacrafie – sick or not.

  12. I can say one thing about that Miranda Jenkins kid whom I first got to watch play back in junior highschool. It was a game I attended and they were playing another local team. I can remember that it was about three seconds left in the game before half. I can remember her looking up at the clock and had the where withall to not rush it. She pulled up from way beyond the three point line and got the other girl up in the air and just before the buzzer, she let it go and nailed it and got foul at the same time. She converted and her team won. From that moment on from my observation, I knew that this was a different type of player and I told several of my buddies that. Over the years I watched as she progressed and many times some of my buddies call me from time to time to keep me posted now that I work in South Carolina. They have confirmed what I thought all along many years ago. This is a kid that I saw that offers no excuses and hustles all the time and very team oriented towards winning. I am not surprise that she was granted a scholarship to play at the next level.

  13. Last three high school games for Miranda Jenkins went 37 points, 38 points, 41 points….Not a bad close to your high school career……The other MJ may not even be able to say that….

  14. That swhat happen when a coach doesn’t discipline all players on the team and make them work hard.

offense sells tickts, defense wins games, rebounding wins championships!!!!

  15. Let’s don’t start calling all the coaches on the carpet right now….We need to honor the tough work that they and the kids have put in this season and have a little cooling off period after last night’s games….

Voting is open for the Top Players from here at the site and you can see more details at the top of this home page….
