Greensboro College men get doubleheader baseball sweep at WMS and now stand at (9-9) after 5 straight wins…..

Greensboro, N.C. — Greensboro College swept Albertus Magnus in a doubleheader at War Memorial Stadium by scores of 17-3 and 6-4. The Pride improved to 9-9 overall, and has won five straight games.

In game one, GC plated nine runs in the third inning and never looked back. Austin Catherina (Hopewell, NJ/Hopewell Valley CHS) went 2-3 with a run, one double and 3 RBI. Seth Caison (Graham, NC/Graham) went 2-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI.

Freshman Tyler Beeby (Sacramento, CA/Center) improved to 2-0 on the year on the mound. He tossed six innings, allowed two runs and two hits. Trey Daniel (Burlington, NC/Western Alamance High) closed the game out for The Pride in the seventh frame.

In the nightcap, senior starter Zach Turton (Huntersville, NC/Hopewell) hurled five innings and got the win. Turton allowed one run and five hits. David Schilling (Morrisville, PA/Pennsburg High School) worked the seventh inning and picked up his first save of the season.

At the plate, Matt Irwin (Asburn, VA/Stone Bridge) and Raynel Pena (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenburg) both collected two hits.

GC travels to play a DH at Roanoke on Wednesday.
