Zena Lovette scored 14 points as Southwest Guilford beat Raleigh Millbrook 44-35 on Saturday for the Class 4-A North Carolina High School Athletic Association women’s championship.
Jessica Pone, who was named the game’s most valuable player, added 13 points and Shannon Buchanan had nine points and 14 rebounds for the Cowgirls (30-2), who won their third 4-A women’s title and their first since 1985.
