HS Baseball Bulletin Board for 3/23/11

Games on the slate for today/tonight:

Burlington Williams at Grimsley 5pm…Whirles need this one, coming off of the loss to Southern Alamance last night and heading back into the Metro 4-A wars at Dudley, on Friday night and Dudley could come right back with Corey Kimber on Friday night, since he only went an inning and a third, in picking up the win at Page last night….Grimsley at Dudley this Friday night…..I don’t think the injury timetable will allow Grimsley’s DJ Reader to return to the mound for pitching purposes, until next week….
North Davidson at Northwest Guilford 6pm…NWG coming off of that comeback win over East Forsyth last night with a big non-conference game today versus the Black Knights….
Northeast Guilford at Rockingham County 7pm…(NEG with [8-1] mark trying to keep that run rolling….) Non-conference game, but Northeast Guilford has already established itself as one of the top teams in our area this season…..
Southwest Guilford at Southeast Guilford 7pm….This is another one of those “Game of the Night” candidates with Tobias and Orth being the main ingrediants and many other sidebars waiting to step up and take their turn…..SEG won over SWG in the playoffs last year and you know the Cowboys have not forgotten that helping hand/arm, that led to their early exit….Dylan Shutt went for SEG last night and he is now (4-0) and Sean Geoghegan threw for SWG in the HPC game….This is a non-conference game, but SWG is (6-1) to start the year and SEG is at (7-2) and we may have a preview of the second or third round of the State NCHSAA 4-A playoffs right here, in this game this evening…..SWG has Glenn coming up on Friday at Southwest and they may be saving Matt Orth for that game, but we do know that Noah Pearl pitched for Glenn in the Bobcats win over Ragsdale last night, so we probably won’t see the Orth-Pearl rematch on Friday night….Tonight, we should be in for a treat as two of the best teams in our area go at it, at Southeast Guilford High School….Maybe too much hype on my part, but I love the build up for these big games and this one has a playoff feel to it already……See all of you at this game tonight, it has the makings of a real good one…..Again, first pitch is set for 7pm at SEG….There is time to catch most of the Burlington Williams-Grimsley game at 5 at Grimsley, if you want to try and catch two games today…..
West Forsyth at Northern Guilford 7pm….Important game for Nighthawks, who at last check were on a three-game winning streak…..Is Austin Hardin available tonight, or is that necessary in a non-conference meeting???
