Wake Forest hired a new basketball coach last year around this time and N.C. State announced their new man yesterday: Who made the better hire/who gott the goods?

Last year Wake Forest let Dino Gaudio go and went out and hired Jeff Bzdelik and then yesterday, N.C. State brought on board Mark Gottfried as their men’s basketball coach, after Sidney Lowe resigned last month…..

Who made the better hire and who really got the goods?

Did either team get what they went looking for?

How do you grade these hires????? Wake a D for Bzdelik and possibly State a B for Gottfried? We’ve had a season to see what Jeff B. can do and all we know about Gott is what he has done in the past, at his previous stops….(Maybe on second thought, for Wake, an F, for WFU….)

If you are Wake fan, would you trade Bzdelik for Gottfried if you had it to do over again? Hopefully for the State fans, Gottfried doesn’t become Gott-fired in five years or sooner…..Again, if you are a Wake fan do you think the Pack got a better coach than you did, when you guys you brought in Coach B last year???

Duke and North Carolina fans, how do you grade the N.C. State hire???

  1. Laughable, is all I can say to State’s hire. Yow now looks like a petty idiot nationally.
At least Wake didn’t tell the world, for the second search in a row, that they were going to go hire one of the top coaches in the country, get turned down by a long list of coaches, for the second search in a row, and then hire a guy who had been fired two years ago for rumored morality issues.

  2. I was in conversation today with one of the members of the N.C. State library board and I asked them how things were looking around the campus with the new basketball coach coming in on Tuesday….I asked, “can with expect big things/good things now that the new coach is in place?”, and they said, “book it”…….

Sounds like N.C. is adjusting to the new leadership and that they have a good “read” on what they need to do……

  3. Wake make a MAJOR mistake – Dino at least had Wake competitive. This year they couldn’t have beaten Northeast Guilford.
