Oak Ridge announces more basketball seniors signing to attend college

Three more Oak Ridge Military Academy seniors have signed scholarships with schools across the country.

Asad Lamot has signed with Lees McRae College (Division II school located in Banner Elk, NC). Ryan King has signed with Wallace State Community College (Junior College in Alabama). Bashir Balarabe has signed with Carl Albert State College (Junior College in Oklahoma).

These three join already signed seniors Jacob Lawson (Purdue) and Michael Neal (Appalachian State), having all five seniors receive full scholarships to attend school.

Congratulations to the ORMA seniors as they prepare to graduate this Saturday and good luck in all of their future endeavors.

  1. I am not asking this question to get any craziness started but I just wanted to know if ORMA would have sports next year. I have not heard anything about the boys or girls basketball, football or even baseball. There have not been any articles or comments on this site about anything since Stan reassigned. I am happy to heard that all of the seniors will play somewhere but what about the Juniors, Sophmores or Freshman from this year going forward. Personally I think the ORMA sports program is needed in our community.

  2. Why would the 2 kids who signed at jucos leave the state? GTCC is a top 5 nationally ranked team every year in basketball. Cape Fear CC and Brunswick CC are both pretty good, too. Just curious.

  3. Maybe we’ll see Bob Lipke back at ORMA as the head boys basketball coach….I was talking to someone last night and they said they didn’t see any reason why Delaney Rudd would not be there next year…..Alan Ashkinazy built a strong first-year baseball team at ORMA this past season and let’s hope that for all the younger players sake that all the exsisting programs will be in place in 2011-2012…..I can not speak for coaches that were there previously, but let’s hope that the Cadets can stay on the road to future successes……

  4. It has been surprisingly quiet about the future of ORMA athletics. How about the future of ORMA? If it does shut down, it will be interesting to see where all of these athletes end up. They won’t get a free ride at these other private schools so they may end up back at public high schools. Does anybody have any info?

  5. Andy, Coach Lipke is the perfect choice at this point and the players respect him!
