More on that fight last night, this time from the Times-News.com

Coming in from the Burlington Times-News.com, on last night’s fight at the Eastern Randolph-Barlett Yancey game and the first source we had, MyRandolphSports.com, had the game at Eastern and the Times-News has it at Yanceyville, home to Bartlett Yancey and the Times-News account seems more tame and not quite as intense, as what we read about from MyRandolphSports.com…….Friday’s News and Record had the game being played at Bartlett Yancey…..

from the Times-News.com:
YANCEYVILLE — The football game between Eastern Randolph and Bartlett Yancey was called off after a scuffle broke out between the teams late in the first half Friday night.

Bartlett Yancey officials chose not to continue the game after its roster had been reduced to 14 players. The game was ruled a forfeit in favor of Eastern Randolph.

With Eastern Randolph leading the Mid-State 2-A Conference game 34-28, there was an altercation along the Eastern Randolph sideline, according to coaches from both teams.

Bartlett Yancey players left their sideline. Subsequently, many Bartlett Yancey players were ejected and the Buccaneers were left with 14 players eligible to finish the game.

Coach Cory Lea of Bartlett Yancey said he agreed with school officials when deciding that the game shouldn’t continue.

Lea said his team’s player who made a hit out of bounds on Eastern Randolph’s kick returner appeared surrounded on the far sideline.

“We had a number of kids leave our sideline,” he said. “… No fight, no brawl. The rule is you can’t leave the sideline.”
