Jeff Wicker gone from 104.1 WTQR
TJ Cutini on the way out at 94.4FM
Rod Davis was a very good basketball player back in his day and he used to play down at Manteo High School, if the numbers that I saw were correct….He was close to playing for Page HS, but not sure if he ever suited up for the Pirates…..Rod has been all over the Triad radio dial and now, as of Friday, he is out of a job at WMAG 99.5FM….Clear Channel, the owners of 99.5 and about another 2,000 radio stations across the country, are cleaning house….
Rod was/is tall and he could play inside on the basketball courts and he could play mic-side at lot of radio stations over the years…..Locally he has been at WKZL, WMAG, 98.7 KISS Country, 100.3 WHISTLE 100 Country, Back to WMAG, out of radio and then back to WMAG 99.5……
Rod now out at WMAG….Also gone are Jeff Wicker at 104.1 WTQR and newsman T.J. Cutini at RUSH Radio 94.5……T.J. is still in, but he will be out soon heading to XM/Sirius Radio to do sports on their College Sports Channel…….
Just an area update with a sports tie-in or two……..
wow that is a shock for halloween-those are some big name guys they have been around they might be on rock92 next week

They ahould make a trade like they do in sports and send Rod Davis to Galax, Virginia in exchange for J.D. Higgins Sr…….Straight trade, could help both teams……Smokin’ Joe Upright is long gone and they need somebody to carry on…..
In fact if the weather is right, give Lemon Lyme a chance or bring Busta Brown back to town……Boo Baron or the Flying Dutchman could even make a stop here again…….Long live Barry/Gary Boom Boom Von Cannon……What about the Professor John Hook or Alfred G. Richards????? Better yet, what about Willie P. Richardson?
Radio is a tough gig these days, which is why I’m thankful for Andy, Brad’n’Britt, and Leanne from 94.5, who I graduated with from Durham Jordan.

Maybe WMAG will bring Bill Flynn back to the mornings and move Rod back to the afternoons….That seemed to be their best overall lineup….Bill Flynn and Rod Davis are very good radio people and they have made others lives better by sharing their talents on the air(radio)…….
Somebody needs to put the MAGIC back in 99.5 WMAG……
Evidently Clear Channel is getting rid of a number of people throughout their organization. I was looking for some high school football broadcast info on one of the Asheville talk stations. I ended up on the station’s Facebook page; a lot of their listeners were hot about the loss of a couple of announcers. Evidently one was let go and another one quit in protest.
The guy who took Rod’s place just isn’t cutting it. Get rid of him, leave Laura and bring back Rod. Changing channels!
Please bring Rod back he and Lora are great together. I do not care for this new guy… I think this station made a huge mistake by losing Rod. Rod and Lora is the reason I listen to the morning show in the first place. I’ve listened to this station many many years, but now I think I need a new station. I no longer enjoy this one. All I can say is Rod needs to come back.

There have been too many incidents I have tolerated in the recent past; I have mumbled about Lauras constant
diminishing of Rod yet they are a team; Maybe it’s their schtick? Regardless, I listened. I think letting Rod Davis go
is equivalent to committing Radio FRAUD!! He is a great Radio Personality, kind, humble, funny…. It’s a shame that
Clear Channel thinks they are making improvemnts; The new guy, who is he? He sounds like Kermit the Frog!!
BRING ROD BACK even if it’s a different time slot!! He deserves a show of his own!!! Clear Channel needs to consider
who made the suggestion to let him go…. Maybe there is someone at Clear Channel who should be out of a job!! CHANGING STATIONS!!
I don’t like the new guy either. Sounds like a generic radio personality…oops drop the word personality. Will now listen only to Christmas music.
Who made the decision to get rid of Rod Davis? Someone either just did not like him personally or faked a survey! Rod is what made Rod and Laura in the mornings. They have definately lost my business. This morning was the last time I listened to 99.5 WMAG. Somebody made a HUGE mistake! I would have got rid of Laura before Rod.
I agree with all the comments about Rod Davis being fired from WMAG. I don’t like the morning show without him–he and Lora were a team and made my commute to work almost enjoyable. Clear Channel isn’t “clear” about what the listeners want.
