Very interesting feature on Sam Coffer(Northern Guilford HS) womens basketball player at Elon University

I saw this feature last week on WFMY NEWS 2 Sports and found it to be very imformative….Thought it might be a good idea to post it here and let the rest of you check it out….Very interesting side of a local player that we may not have recognized….

from Brian Formica at WFMY NEWS 2 Sports….

Elon, NC – Freshman Sam Coffer leads three lives. The full-time Elon basketball player, the full-time college student, and the life few know about: the life of a diabetic.

“I have to check my sugar all the time, I have an insulin pump,” said Coffer. “For practice, when we have morning practice, I eat the same breakfast every time so I know exactly how much insulin I need so my levels will be right. It’s an around the clock, it’s like a job, you have to deal with it, but basketball is my motivation to deal with it and keep it under control.”

  1. She has been dealing with her diabetes for several years. She never complains. She just goes out and gets the job done. Great player and an even better person. Her accomplishments are on the court are only surpassed by her accomplishments in the classroom. She was near the top of the class at Northern. Keep an eye on her career at Elon because this girl can flat out put the ball in the bucket.
