and does a really good job of controlling tempo. He is a take charge floor
leader that has good court vision. He is one of the more unselfish players
on the court and tries to get his teammates involved. He will play for
legendary high school coach Freddie Johnson and he should thrive in
Greensboro Day’s guard oriented offense. Darius also plays solid man to man
defense and has a good understanding of the team defensive concepts.
Currently, Darius is a fair shooter with average shooting mechanics and shot
selection. Darius has four more years to develop and with his current skill

Matthew has good mechanics on his jump shot and has excellent range. He is
so proficient that he can transition into a shooting guard. He has a high
skill set of ball handling, passing and shooting skills that should

School: Thomasville Prep

Height: 6’2

Class: 2012

Evaluation: Carlos has a great attitude and is the ultimate team player. He
has a nice combination of athleticism and skills accompanied by outstanding
leadership skills. He is one of the few players that talks and communicates
on the court. He can play either guard position, but had strong PG skills at
camp. He has good court vision and makes excellent decisions as well. In
addition, Carlos is a true competitor. He plays with a passion and intensity
once he steps foot on the court. More importantly, Carlos takes a lot of
pride in his defensive game. He is excellent on the ball defender and
anticipates well in the team defensive concepts. He has the ability to run a
team or create his own shot off the dribble. The next step in his
development is to improve his midrange and perimeter shooting touch. He has
good strength and already sports a D1 body so the transition to a D1 school
should not be a problem with Carlos.

Player: Joey McLean

Hometown: Greensboro, NC

School: High Point Christian

Height: 5’10

Evaluation: Joey is another young guard to monitor over the next few years.
Joey has a knack for scoring and has mastered the teardrop floater. He loves
to attack the basket and also sports a nice midrange pull up jumper. He has
above average athleticism and is a solid defensive player. The next step in

strength and plays strong. All of his moves are strong and hard and utilizes
his size effectively on the offensive side of the court. Defensively, Dillon
takes pride in his defense and will challenge the opposing player by getting
up in his chest. Currently, Dillon is an undersized PF but has the size and
skill to be an effective D2 prospect.

Evaluation: Julian is along and slender athletic WF that has a great
attitude and work ethic. He is extremely mobile and fluid and does an
outstanding job of running the floor in transition. Julian plays hard on
both ends of the court and is tremendous on the defensive end of the floor.
Julian has the length and athleticism to guard smaller and quicker players,
but also has the ability to battle on the interior with bigger and stronger
players. He is really versatile player that can do a little bit of
everything well. He has a nice midrange game and has good mechanics on his
jumper, although he could have a quicker release. Julian plays with
intensity and has a high motor and this may be his biggest attribute as a
player. Without question, Julian has the blend of skill, fundamentals, and
athleticism to be a legit D1 prospect and schools looking for a hardnosed
player should look no further than the senior WF from Greensboro Day.

find a right fit at a D1 program.

Player: Torey Baskin

Hometown: Winston-Salem, NC

School: Mt. Tabor

Height: 6’1

Class: 2012

Evaluation: Simply put, Torey has a great attitude, hustles on every play,
shoots well and knocks down jumpers, and defends! Torey has the complete
package and has the blend of athleticism, fundamentals, and skills that make
the senior guard an attractive player for schools at the D2 and potential D1
level. Torey has good mechanics on his jump shot and outstanding range as he
stepped out and knocked down 3 pointers with consistency. He is a good catch
and shoot player, but also has the ball handling and individual moves to
create his own shot off the dribble. He has good foot speed and lateral
quickness and plays as hard defensively as he does on the offensive end of
the court.

Player: Chris Corchiani Jr.

Hometown: Raleigh, NC

School: Raleigh Broughton

Height: 5’11

Class: 2013

Evaluation: Chris has a great attitude and fantastic work ethic on the court
as well during stations. He is fundamentally sound and has an extremely high
basketball IQ. He is the son of former NC State star PG Chris Corchiani and
the apple didn’t fall far from the tree with Chris Jr. He is a coach’s
dream! He has excellent court vision and gets more joy and satisfaction
making the nice pass and assist rather than scoring himself. Without
question, the most unselfish PG at camp and was a joy to watch. He plays
hard on every play and is scrappy on defense and crafty on offense. He has
complete control of his team and knows how to control tempo. He is best in
transition as he is constantly surveying the court to make the pass to the
open teammate. That being said, Chris didn’t look to shoot much. While many
PG’s hunt and try to manufacture their own shot, he was more content in
creating opportunities for his teammates. Without question, Chris has the
skills, fundamentals, IQ and understanding of the game to become a solid D1
prospect.

Player: James Hempfield

Hometown: Raleigh, NC

School: Raleigh Broughton

Height: 6’6

Class: 2013

Evaluation: James is a fundamentally sound basketball player with good
basketball IQ. He plays extremely hard on both ends of the court and is the
ultimate team player. James is a hustle player that seems to get a lot of
loose ball and rebounds. On the offensive end, James has solid mechanics on
his shot although improvements can be made on a quicker release. James has
average athleticism, but it will be his continued work ethic and desire that
will be able to push him into the D1 category. At the end of the day, James
is very coachable and plays the game the right way. The next step in his
development is to increase foot speed and lateral quickness. With the
correct work ethic, James can be a solid D1 prospect.

Player: Cameron Gottfried

Hometown: Raleigh, NC

Evaluation: Cameron has a great attitude and work ethic along with
outstanding fundamentals and basketball IQ. Cameron has good mechanics on
his jump shot with nice extension and follow- through. He has a knack for
getting open and has a nice midrange game plus outstanding range. He has an
impressive perimeter game and plays within the team structure. He never took
a bad shot and he never forced the issue by trying to hunt or manufacture
his own shot. The next step in his development is to get bigger and stronger
and work on his foot speed and quickness. He is a very humble and coachable
young player. Knowing his pedigree, he has all the potential to become a D1
prospect.

Player: Riley LaRue

Hometown: Lewisville, NC

School: Forsyth Country Day

Height: 6’2

Class: 2014

Evaluation: Riley has great fundamentals and understanding of the game. He
is the son of former Wake Forest star and current Coach Rusty LaRue. Riley’s
biggest attribute is his ability to shoot the basketball. He has outstanding
shooting mechanics and tremendous range as he was knocking down NBA 3
pointers with consistency and deadly accuracy. He has a quick release and
may end up being one of the top shooters in the state for the class of 2014.
Riley looks like he can grow another 3-4 inches and by the time he gets to
be a senior, he could easily end up being the top shooter in the state.
While he is not overly athletic, he knows the game well and understands
position defense. Riley has a great work ethic and there is no doubt that
Riley has D1 potential if he continues on his path of improvement and
development.
