  1. Congratulations to all of these young ladies on a tremendous season. This is a tight-knit group that under the leadership of Grimsley Coach Karyn Collie really came together for a season ending run that produced many memorable moments that will remain with these players for a lifetime.

Good article in Sunday’s News & Record about the championship match and a really cute interview with Roxanne & Clare who are light-heartedly teasing each other.

  2. Interesting interview and good background on both especially Roxanne with the South African heritage……

  3. Good Job by the Grimsley Women’s Tennis Team

The Grimsley Women’s Tennis team played a stellar match today against reigning two-time state champions, Raleigh Broughton. In a match that lasted over four hours, the Whirlies took the women’s tennis state title for the first time since 1970. After singles, we were ahead 4-2, and entered into doubles knowing that we had to win one doubles match to take the title. As our girls battled it out on their courts, it became clear that the two teams were very evenly matched, as Broughton took the first two doubles matches, tying the score 4-4. The final doubles match came down to our reigning state doubles champions, Clare Cox and Roxanne Henshall, who stayed strong to win 10-8. It has been a huge year for the Lady Whirlies and we are proud to say that we are officially #1! Way to go, Whirlies!
