Eleven reasons why the Page Pirates can win the football game on Friday night

We know James Summers can run and he can do a real good job of that, along with Drew Rogers and Orlando Hatfield…..We saw Hatfield take one to the house last Friday night on a 90-yard return versus Northwest Guilford….Summers had 242 yards rushing against Southeast Guilford in Week Ten of the Pirates’s season and earlier in the year he hit for 248 when Page topped Davie County….Rogers is now nearing 1,500 yards on the season…..

But the real reason Page can win out over Matthews Butler, on Friday night???

The defense….These kids have been playing lights-out almost the entire year with five shut outs on the season and 11 reasons why they can beat Butler on Friday night and you have to say that would be…..

Shaun Workinger
DeAnthony Brooks
Jacob Green
Blake Hickman
Christian Cranford
Evan Roer
Grant Brewer
Carter Stanley
Will Henry
Ed Britt
Savon Wall

Why not put it on your defense and let them carry you….You have to expect them to have their biggest game of the season on Friday night…..

James Summers must equal what his defense does with his ground game on Friday and the power of Rogers and the speed of Hatfield must be on par with what Summers can do against Butler…..

  1. I hope they can, gonna be tough…I will be at that game! Butlers team chemistry is a bit off this year, I think Page has a chacne, just gonna have to play the best game they have played all year. Good luck to Northern as well, they got a tough one too.

  2. Noway,
If Butler plays “Butler Football” Butler will win, but im here to tell you, If your boys are off and Page is on, they may just beat you pretty good.

I gotta be honest, I have to pull for my Guilford Co team, but I honeslyt think (and you know I just call it like i see it) neither one of these two teams will get by Mallard Creek.. Still pulling for those Page Pirates, prove me wrong guys!

  3. The 12th reason is that Northwest put 25 points on Page last week and that was the most points scored against Page all season. I see Butler coming in scoring no less than 50 points. Sorry, I can’t buy the hype for this one.

  4. Page D is not as strong as they think but Page could still win this game. I have not seen a complete game out of Page all year. But if they do, it can be scary. They have the offensive weapons. LOS will be key as will the Page DB’s. that is their weakness.

  5. Neither one of these teams will stop each other from scoring. If Page spreads the ball around more they can win. They have to match Butlers talent. Summers will have to play a more cerebal game against these guys. If he can do that and limit his mistakes then page has a shot at it.

  6. Of Course

I dont think you are correct. There are some NW folks that get a little out of whack, but for the most part the group is pretty respectful, especially in defeat. Page proved to be the better team last week, and we are pulling for our Guilford County brothers.

Just because someone mentions NW in their post doesnt mean that it is coming from a NW backer.

  7. Are they looking at James Summers to play quarterback at NC State? I haven’t seen much his way in terms of passing? To me he seems like a bigger Ricky Lewis Jr.

  8. Summers has very good arm strength and can throw the ball anywhere on the field. His passing is fine. What he does need to work on at NC State, if he is to play QB, is his decision making (going through progressions and reads) and accuracy (mechanics).

He is only 17 and is still growing. He could get up to 6’5 and with this athleticism and running style he could really be a threat at QB for a school like state if he can get the aforementioned skills up.

That being said, he has very big hands and could possibly be moved to WR or Safety at the next level as well.

  9. the question is not does he have a good arm. that’s a given. The question is, can he play QB? Jury is still out.

He can throw it anywhere on the field but he needs to throw more to his team and less to the other team.. He has the physical tools. But can he learn the position?

I could see him at safety before WR. Regardless, very athletic young man. I’m sure he will do fine in whatever position he plays.

  10. The DB deal worked out good for David Amerson at N.C. State and James Summers has excellent size and he is a super athlete…..6’3/200 and again, quite an athlete and you can do a lot with kid like that at the next level…..Got to get the running game going on Friday…..Seems at his best on the run….

  11. Being that I’ve seen all the games he has played at the varsity level, I can give you an accurate opinion instead of those opinions from “maybe” who most likely looks at the Saturday morning stats to get their information. James has the tools and Joe Barile hit it on the head as far as what he would need to work on in order to be a QB. As far as the comment of spending a little less time throwing to the other team, well, not all of those interceptions are his fault. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve counted a ball being tipped up by a receiver and the defense intercepts on the tip when the ball maybe should have been caught. So, his interception total this year is a little misleading. Both his sophomore and junior years he hasn’t had that many interceptions.

IMO, he is going to make a hell of a wide receiver. I’ve seen him at practices playing the position, I have watched him at 7 on 7’s playing the position, and I would bet money he would have the best hands of any receiver in this area. He is an athlete who can do a lot of different things, and I’m sure the Page coaches want the ball in his hands as much as possible and that would be the best guess why he is playing QB in high school instead of WR. However, he may not make it to the level of Keenan Allen at WR, but IMO, he could get real close.

  12. We know he’s playing QB on Friday night, let’s hope he’s ready to run as he has in recent contests…..

This is the ‘Only Game in Town’, on Friday night and everybody needs to be there……Should be great football weather……

  13. Dear Noway –

It looks like yesway…..maybe you heard…Page Beat your Bulldogs….They stopped barking at the end of the first half….Never say never! Go PIRATES!

  14. Well I’m getting a little bit annoyed at the “They might beat _____, but they wont beat _____” Give the boys some credit. The Pirates have been putting in work this season, and I’m so grateful the D line is getting their props. Of course I’m biased but I think they could take it all the way. No matter what I’m ALWAYS rooting for my babies. I love you Pirates. Enjoy your win tonight cause Monday- its back to work.

And btw Shout out to the Bulldog’s QB- that is some serious talent. I was very worried tonight. Great job to Butler and their team giving us the best game of this season. One for the books.

I guess I want everyone to keep underestimating the Pirates- it seems to be working for them.
